My name is Milahni Wilkerson, I am sixteen years old, and I am currently a junior attending Captain John L. Chapin High School in El Paso, TX. I come from a military family, so over the past fourteen years, I have traveled around the world and I have enjoyed my many multicultural experiences. I have been in Europe since the beginning of my high school career, and although European school systems don't allow students to begin sports until their freshman year, I feel I have caught on quickly due to my natural athletic abilities. Over the past three years, I have been a varsity player in volleyball, basketball, softball, and track. In the past year, I've been recruited and currently play on the AAU league team named Bonafide Basketball in El Paso, Texas.
I have maintained a grade point averge of 3.5, and my academic aspirations this year are to bring my grade point average up to a 4.0 and take the ACT/SAT. At a very young age I discovered I have a passion for medicine and aspire to be a doctor. I have geared my academic schedule torwards accelerated science courses such as, forensic science and AP biology. I have been selected as one of the top academic students at my school and I now hold the honor of being in the national honor society.
As a small forward/power forward, my goal over the next two years are to improve my skills with dribbling, outside shooting and being more aggressive with the ball. Since returning to the states last year, I have improved drastically with my defense and my overall shooting range outside of the paint. Although most post players that play my position are considered to be slow in the running aspect of the game, I have the ability and stamina to move around the court versus simply staying at my position. I am looking forward to joining a basketball program that will allow me to grow in all aspects of the game where I can utilize my natural athletic abilities. I am dedicated to learning, and to mastering not only my position, but the game of basketball.
I look forward to hearing from you and what your school has to offer in academics as well as your Women's basketball program. I hope that you enjoy watching the growth that I make over the next two years!
