Personal Statement
My goal since the 5th grade has been to play basketball at the collegiate level. At the time, I didn't know the work needed to get there. However, once I started playing AAU basketball, I quickly learned that I needed to dedicate and sacrifice my time to the game. I spend countless hours in the gym improving my skill set and game, running pick-up games with the guys, and improving my mental toughness and basketball IQ. I know that I cannot sit around and expect great things to come to me. Because I do not want the next player out working me, I have to continue to work day in and day out on improving my game.
I am a coachable player and dedicated to the game. I understand the high commitment level, sacrifice, and work required to play at the collegiate level. I know that it is not just about self, but what I can bring to the program so that we are successful as a collective unit.
Academics are of utmost importance. Without a sound mind and good education, I know that the opportunity to play basketball will be nonexistent. So not only do I need to work hard on the court, it is also important to work even harder in the classroom.
