Personal Statement
I have been playing basketball since I was in 4th grade. At once, I knew I wanted to play basketball for as long as I could. I moved back to the United States after living in China for 13 years. Everything was new to me because I have never played ball in the US. The speed, skill, how physical the game was... All the aspects were bigger, better, and stronger, but I adapted to this new environment real quick. I am mainly a shooting guard with high basketball IQ, but playing point guard or small forward is no second thought to me either. I like to encourage and cheer my teammates on during practice, off the court, and during games. I always look for that open teammate to assist them their shot. I love being in the gym working on skills and shooting. I will take advice from coaches and work until my goal is reached.
Academic wise, I always try to maintain a straight A profile along with a high GPA. I am part of the Key Club, Stand Up 2 Cancer, National Honor Society, Orchestra, and Habitat for Humanity at Plano West High School. I am currently an officer for both the Orchestra and Habitat for Humanity club. I love being a part of the school and getting myself involved with as much as possible, especially around the community with volunteer work! I definitely want to play basketball at a highly competitive school. Watching college and professional basketball on TV since I was little, I always told myself and my family "That will be me one day." I'm open to any college options, but D1 has always been my goal. I hope being recruited can help my family out and make my parents proud, knowing that everything they have done for me is worth it.
