Gabi Teneyuca '17 Recruiting Profile

    I am a hardworking person both academically and athletically. Being involved in many organizations and clubs have helped to shape me as a student athlete both on and off the basketball court. I am a two sport varsity athlete participating in basketball and track both my freshman and sophomore years. Managing between sports and school have taught me to work well with others, set goals to achieve, manage my time well, and be able to commit to what I am involved in. I am looking for a college that best fits me and challenges me academically and athletically. My goal I have set is to play Division I college basketball and I am working on my game and studies to meet the standards it takes to attend a competitive program in both school and basketball.

    Since I first stepped on the court, I have aspired to play at the collegiate level and understand what it takes to play at the next level. Off the court, I take my school work very seriously and work hard to maintain a 4.07 GPA as a high honors student. I enjoy doing service projects for my community like helping host a basketball camp, wrapping gifts for the less fortunate through a program with the San Antonio Fire Department, and helping lead and organize a book drive and read to children. I also am involved in extracurricular clubs like participating in the math club, school ambassador, and was elected as student council secretary my sophomore year. My preferred major is Pre-Med, but I am open to other opportunities that best fit me to excel in school and in basketball.

    I have been playing basketball since I was four years old and started playing AAU basketball in 4th grade. I have always played up two or more age divisions while growing up challenging myself as much as I can. I currently play AAU for Sophia Young Elite. I am a “team first” player! I am a hardworking defender which I consider to be my best quality. I am able to use my quickness and athleticism to crash board and to rebound the ball and be strong with it. I also have a high basketball IQ knowing when it is an appropriate time to shoot the ball, push the ball up the court, or pass it. Being a high school starter since freshman year, and an AUU starter, I am a team leader and try to lead by example while also encouraging my teammates. I was captain of my high school basketball team my sophomore year. I am very coachable and strive to be one of the hardest working players for any team I am a part of. 

    I want to attend a college where I can push myself in the classroom and on the court. I am open to all options and want to ultimately find the right college match at the highest level of competition possible. My goal is to be a great role model to others and aspire them to always work hard for something you want and in the end want to make my parents proud of me for all the sacrifices they have made.
