I remember like it was yesterday, I loved going to the park to watch my dad play basketball. I was in the third grade and that’s when I truly became interested in the game of basketball. In the third grade, I started playing for a girl’s youth basketball program. In the beginning my game was terrible but I worked extremely hard to enhance my skills. In middle school, I could help our girls’ basketball team increase our win totals from the previous year. I was awarded Most Valuable Player two years in a row in 7th and 8th grade and on my AAU team. Entering high school, I realized that the competition is much tougher. I started on the Junior varsity team as a freshman, and as a sophomore I was moved up to varsity and came off the bench. I played sparingly due to the six seniors on the team, but I did make an impact in helping our team win our division and advancing to the playoffs.
My academic goals for high school is to continue to be on the A honor roll. My parents always let me know that my school work should be my priority over anything else! Being a student athlete is something that I love. My parents encourage me to always do my best in any endeavor that I engage in. I always try my best to stay on the right path. I’ve learned for me to play my best basketball you have to be mentally and physically tough to compete at a high level. My parents always tell me that there is someone working just as much if not harder than I am. Therefore, I practice hard and I play hard like it’s the last possession of the game. I know that losing is part of the game, but I despise it. Throughout the losses I’ve learned the value of being a good teammate and sacrificing for the good of the team. I feel that with my leadership skills and my talent as a basketball player. I would be a great fit for your program and you would truly be getting a class act young lady. Also, my future goal is to pursue my career as a Pharmacist.
