Personal Statement

My name is Gillian Gerton and I am a Senior, class of 2014, at Bishop O'Connell High School in Arlington, Virginia. In my house, going to college is a given. I am looking for a college that is strong academically and has a good basketball program and a moderately sized student body with a good student:teacher ratio. At this point the location of the school is not that important, I am willing to travel anywhere. This is my second year at Bishop O'Connell after transferring from South County High School in Lorton, Virginia. Sometimes, change is necessary for growth.  I am always trying to improve myself on and off the court. I pride myself on hard work, being a good teammate,  and commitment and use that to help the program at O'Connell. I am a player and I am willing to do whatever it takes to help my team win. I am coachable, a good rebounder and passer. I have good court vision and a high basketball IQ. I have been told that I have tremendous 'upside' and potential and am looking for the right place to form it. I will continue to work on all aspects of my game. Any program would benefit from having a hardworking, focused scholar athlete like me.
