Hello my name is Lydia Pedersen and I am 6'3 185 lbs. I have been playing basketball for five years now. As a freshman, I played at a private school but my season was cut short after getting into an accident and suffering from a concussion for three months. After recovering, I played my first year of AAU basketball which really helped me improve and play basketball at a higher level. I also did a lot of training with the boys basketball team in my private school and trained with pro basketball player Natalie Butler. This training time was all very helpful in getting me back into basketball after having a concussion. Going into sophomore year, I transferred into public school and made varsity girls basketball. My first season in public school was challenging but very beneficial to my basketball skills. I have been playing on a new, higher level, AAU team that has really helped me meet some of my goals as a basketball player. My goals for my upcoming junior year are to work on being quicker when it comes to making a post move, expanding my shooting range and overall start shooting more during the game. Academically, this year I plan to take the SAT and I have been doing a lot of studying in preparation for that. I am also taking AP and duel enrollment classes this year and it is one of my goals to keep good grades in those classes. Thank you for taking time to read my personal statement!
