- Lyndsey Costigan, Class of '23 Spring/Summer Highlights 2021
Personal Statement
My name is Lyndsey Costigan. I’m a 6' wing/forward from Northern Virginia and I love the game of basketball!
Growing up in a basketball family, I have played basketball for as long as I can remember. My Mom played D1 basketball in College, my Dad played in the Airforce and my sister who will be a 2022 high school graduate also plays. We are often found playing family games in the back yard. I even played on a third grade AAU team in second grade with my older sister, so, I have lots of years of experience.
As a freshman, I made the varsity team for my high school. I worked really hard and earned a starting spot early in the season and received the honor of being selected to the 1st Team for all of Northern VA.
During my freshman year not only did I play basketball but I also played soccer. I started on the JV team but worked really hard and was brought up to play with the varsity team. I know how to work hard and I know the importance of commitment. I am often the first one in the gym and the last one to leave. In my opinion, optional things are always mandatory!
Ideally, I am looking for a program that fits me both athletically as well as academically. I have always taken academics very seriously. My school is a college prep school and is very academic. Still, I have never received lower than a B on my report card. I know I have the work ethic, commitment, leadership, character, and love for the game to play in college. I think that being a two-sport athlete has taught me how to manage my time well and how hard work and commitment is very important. I believe that I could be an asset to any team that appreciates these values.
