Personal Statement
I am a typical combo guard with a 3-point shooting threat off the catch and dribble and a tight handle, feel and skill at the PG position. I can take care of the ball, push the tempo, creat shots for my teammates and myself, and knock down the game speed shots. I have played basketballs for more than ten years. My number one goal is to play basketball at a university with an exceptionally good education system.
I lost my dad more than six years ago from cancer. It was very tough. Playing basketball used to be our "thing" together, so I now feel more "being with him" when I get on court. I started to play varsity team at eighth grade. As the leader on the court, I am the type of player that cares heavily on my teammates. I want to do everything I can to help and lead my team but I also want to lift all my teammates up. If I see my teammate fall I make sure that they don't have to get up on their own. We are all in this together anyway.
Work ethic is extremely important to me. I believe that no matter how much talent you have that doesn't give you an excuse to slack off. When I train, I make sure I go hard and that I improve after every practice. I have the drive to be the best I can be in every aspect of the game. I have the same mindset in classroom. I will and usually do spend about 5 hours studying every day. I am taking hard courses and have been maintaining a perfect GPA so far. My usually weekends consist of me waking up early to study, then eat, play basketball, and then study again before I go to sleep.
Patience, persistence, and perseverance are my three important traits. Achieving a goal is important, but what is more important is the distance that I am willing to travel with its ups and downs, fears and failures. This is the kind of player I am.
