My name is Erin Nyhus and I am a 5'8'' junior point guard/guard at Brodhead High School. I have been a starting shooting guard on varsity my freshmen and sophomore year and moved into the point guard position junior year. As a freshman, I averaged 11.2 ppg and earned 2nd team all conference. As a sophomore, I averaged 15.3 ppg and earned 1st team all conference. Coming back from an ACL surgery in the spring, I averaged 16.8 ppg and 6.2 rpg junior year and led the conference in scoring while also reaching 1000 points. I have guarded the opposing team's best guard since freshman year and have been heavily face guarded and guarded by the opposing team's best player junior year which made me work even harder to get my shots off. I am a 37% career 3-point shooter and have the school record for most threes in a game with 8 and points in game with 43. I am a very team oriented player and like seeing my teammates succeed on and off the court. As a leader, I give my full effort not just in games but in practice as well.
Outside of basketball, I am actively involved in student council, band, jazz band, and Leo Club. I am also an accomplished piano player and have been taking lessons since 1st grade. I went to State on the piano as an 8th grader and made it back two more times since then. I enjoy spending time with my family going kayaking, camping, and doing anything outdoors. Academics has always been very important to me and will continue to be in college. I am in National Honor Society, have a 3.94 GPA, and ranked 4th in my graduating class while taking many advanced classes. My goal is to keep getting better not only as a player, but as a person too. Being involved in basketball and other activities teaches me how to manage my time and makes me appreciate what I have accomplished not only in basketball, but also academically and musically.
