Starting basketball at an early age, I developed a passion for the game, and ever since I can remember, I've wanted to play at the college level. I've learned the value of training hard on the court and in the weight room.
Many of my coaches have encouraged me to be a leader on the court. I learned early the value of making plays instead of just making baskets - on both sides of the floor. By focusing on the process, the results are starting to take care of themselves. I've been told my ability to score at all three levels makes me difficult to guard: finishing, mid range, and beyond the three. At the same time, I focus on making the best decision for my team on every possession.
I believe my work ethic for basketball transfers to the classroom. I like to think my preparation for academics is similar to athletic training. As for my character, I believe my grade school, Saint John Vianney, taught me the difference between right and wrong, and that it is important to encourage others rather than criticize. On and off the court I try and limit envy. I always want what's best for my team and I. I feel these characteristics have helped me become a good teammate, someone other kids want to play with.
In closing, I feel I would bring great value at the college level. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Kate Huml (2022)
