Personal Statement

Update 2/1/17:  Season is going great.  17-1 overall. 12-0 in conference and leading the very tough Woodland West conference by 2 games.  The last 2 years state champion has come from the woodland west
we are hoping to make it 3 years in a row.  I have been moved to point guard.  That has impacted my scoring a bit but I am very proud to have the lowest number of turnovers
on the team and second highest in steals, rebounds, and assists.

Update 11/16/16: Just opened the 2017 season with a non conference win again Burlington HS.  49 -36.  I finished with 13 Pts.  Looking forward to my senior season.

If I had to use one word to define myself it would be persistence.  In every phase of my life I have met challenges and conquered them with persistence.

I was born in Wroclaw, Poland and spent the first 2 years of my life living in an Orphanage.  In 2003 at the age of 3 I was adopted along with my brother and sister by my new family in the US. Starting as a 3 year old in a new country with a new language everything was a challenge.  Learning to speak and read with a limited vocabulary was a challenge, but with persistence and some help I have overcome those early obstacles.

Early on I knew that athletics was something that I enjoyed doing.  Soccer was my first love, being born in Europe that just seemed natural.  I was not the fastest player or the strongest, but persistence was on my side.  I had some good coaching, I listened, and practiced.  Basketball began to kick in for me in 5th grade.  My family were close supporters of Marquette University Women's Basketball. I had watched many games, gone to many camps with Coach Terri Mitchell, and even been in the locker room for pregame pep talks.  I was ready to make my mark.  Early success in middle school fueled my desire to play more.  Enter Wisconsin Impact ( my first club team) and Holly Spoo ( NCAA Div III Champion UW Oskosh).  Holly had just formed Wisconsin Impact and her passion and drive was an encouragement for the next 4 years.

High school brought new challenges.  Head Coach Jef Radtke stressed individual and team defense and challenged me to not depend on my offensive game and improve my on ball, and help defense.  What to do when faced with a challenge; Persistence.  Club practices, extra workouts, a mentor relationship with D-I college coach Terri Mitchell.  Not gifted but determined.

I believe I have a realistic view of what college academic life and basketball will be like.  Hard work, daily challenges, and a lot of PERSISTENCE!
