Hello Coach,
I started playing basketball in the seventh grade, and although I was behind in skill development compared to the other girls on my middle school team basketball was something I really enjoyed doing. I continued playing basketball into the eighth grade, but it wasn't until my freshman year in high school that basketball became something I played competitively, comfortably, and passionately. I played on the junior varsity team freshman year, and we had an amazing season filled with wins, losses, laughter, and serious competition. Although my team was getting great results, I still wanted to push myself harder to become more comfortable in myself as an athlete and basketball player. So over the summer leading into my sophomore year in high school I spent majority of my time devoted to either playing on my teams summer league or going to a school near my house to run through drills and get shots up. As the summer went on I noticed that the in game results were becoming ones I liked. I began my sophomore year playing on junior varsity, but was pulled up to play varsity almost halfway through the season. I was nervous, but also ready to show my coach and my team that I was ready to always play my hardest regardless of the results and that I would leave it all on the court for them. We had a very successful season my sophomore year winning multiple games we were considered as "underdogs" going into. At this point I knew undeniably that basketball was something I wanted to continue playing at the college level. I am now a junior at Oshkosh North High-school. I also play varsity volleyball and varsity soccer at Oshkosh North. I will be continuing varsity basketball this year, and I will have film available very soon as season starts on November 6th! I am very passionate about basketball and would be blessed to have the opportunity to expand my team building and leadership skills playing at the college level. Thank you so much for taking time to view my profile!
Sincerely,
Saige Turner
