My name is Katie Bleck and I am currently a junior attending Weyauwega-Fremont High School, located in the town of Weyauwega which has a population of 1,900 people. Since I started basketball, in 4th grade, I always loved the game and put forth my best effort. I have grown to love the game more and more every second I play. My high school career started off similar to most. As a 5'3'' freshman I started the season playing two halves of JV and one half of Varsity. That year mt goal was to play one full game of Varsity ball. I made it my priority to stay after practice everyday to improve my skills. I worked for almost an hour after practice every day drilling with our assistant coach on ball handling, shooting, and defending the post. It didn't take long for game and abilities to improve. Before I knew it I was an all Varsity player. The summer leading into my sophomore year I competed on my first AAU team because I had the drive to continue to improve my skills and knowledge. As my sophomore season came neared, I sat down with my parents and coach's to set goals for the upcoming season. As the next season came I was a 5'5'' sophomore who dedicated all my time outside of school to the game of basketball. That season I was honored with starting on my Varsity team and named to a captain and leader position. Every day I came eager to enhance my abilities along with my teammates. I continued to stay after practice every day to drill down on my weaker areas, I also got everyone on our team to lift after practice to increase our physical strength. As my second season in high school closed, I led our team in rebounds, offensive rebounds, and steals. To continue my journey and passion for the game, I played all through the spring and summer on Wisconsin Blaze's AAU team. I have also made it part of my Sunday night routine to attend our local open gym and play with our alumni.
Aspects of my personality that makes me stand out from other recruits include my work ethic. I always make it my priority to address my coach to communicate my areas that need improvement. I can also ensure that I will not stop practicing until I get the skill/drill down to perfection. I am also a team player and out others before myself. One way this is demonstrated on my team is when players come to me for advise or encouragement during practices and games. Another one of my strongest personal traits is my ability to always stay focused. Once I have a goal in mind, whether it's how many assists I want per game or receiving 100% on a Pre-Calc test, I will always put in the extra time needed and not start another task until my first is finished.
I would love to compete on a college basketball team because I want to become part of a strong team full of women who have the same dedication and love for the game I possess so much passion towards. I have already attended a couple college games and found the players to be my role models and inspiration. I would love to compete and give my game to your program!
