Greetings my name is Alexandria M. Trosper, Niibei'i' Hisei (Singing Woman). I am a senior at Wyoming Indian High School in Ethete, Wyoming. I proudly represent the Northern Arapaho Tribe. Although I am only seventeen years old, I have had my fair share of trials and tribulations in life. In our single parent home, I was the youngest of four brothers and sisters. My father dedicated himself to traveling from state to state to be able to provide for us, because which, my siblings have been ineligible to receive any federal funding.
A long time goal of mine has been to be able to play the game I love while pursuing the education I deserve. I am interested in the field of Environmental Sciences.
My high school years have been a great lesson and guidance for years to come. I set goals of wanting to make the Honor Roll and National Honor Society growing up, both of which I have maintained all four years of high school. In addition to my academic goals, I wanted to make the Wyoming State Tournament and win a state championship. This year our team will pursue our fourth bid in a row. I most recently received 1 of 2 Wyoming Senior Athletes 2019 McDonalds All American Nomination. We maintain a strong team relationship in our community volunteering for those around us. This has included hauling sand bags for the mountain run off in the spring to prevent flooding. We host bingo and raffle fundraisers, feeds all while maintaining a strong spiritual connection by participating in ceremonies yearly. Helping others in need has never been an issue for me. I believe we should all learn to lend a helping hand even if we don't receive anything in return.
I also enjoy volleyball, running cross country, traveling for summer and off season basketball while meeting and making new friends.
In conclusion, my life has allowed me to take a step back and learn to look at the bigger picture, no matter what obstacles are set forth. I am grateful for my family and I walk with ease knowing that things may happen but my positive attitude and ability to accept my feelings will allow me to have fulfilling life experiences both on and off the court.
