Personal Statement
Before I started diving two years ago, I was a level 8 competitive gymnast. Throughout those years of gymnastics, I learned many life skills and lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. It taught me the importance of discipline, mental and physical toughness, determination, perseverance, teamwork, and much more.
I spent two years working through gymnastic injuries. Due to recurring injuries I could not consistently train to keep competing and move to the next level. I decided to transition into diving. To start over at 15 into another sport and practice with kids half my age was difficult at first. The life skills and lessons I learned from 6 years of gymnastic training kept me focus and working hard to learn and improve, allowing me to be able to start competing again.
Thanks to my gymnastics background I have been able to improve a lot over the past two years. However, I still have a lot more to learn and am driven everyday by myself and my competitors around me to become better at this sport. I really enjoy diving and realize I would love to dive at the college level. As I began to get closer to my final year of club diving, I am looking for a college program that will fit me academically and athletically.
