Personal Statement

My dive list is:
1 meter: 102A, 103B, 201A, 202A, 301C, 302C, 402C, 403C, 5124D, 5222D, 5223D I am also working on several more advanced dives to add to my dive list for my senior year.

I started diving my Sophomore year in high school - prior to this I was in gymnastics.  I was a swimmer my freshman year and never really considered diving.  I was very happy when I was approached going into my Sophomore year as it was something I really wanted to try.  My coach after the first couple of weeks said I had a strong potential to make it to state.  I worked hard all season and in the end it paid off as I place 2nd at our sectionals and made it to State my first year of diving.  I placed 13th overall which when you consider I only started diving in August was a great accomplishment.  This year was my Junior year and my coach and I again set many goals for the season.  I placed first in most of our dual meets and was having a very solid season.  At our conference meet I placed 5th overall, all 4 of the people who placed higher than me were division 1 divers and 3 of those divers made it to state and placed in division 1.  At sectionals this year, I again placed 2nd and was on my way to another state tournament.  This year I placed 9th only missing 8th place by 1 point and was only 20 points off podium.

Diving in college is something I am very interested in and not everyone has the opportunity.

I am very coachable and strive to be one of the hardest working divers.  My coach and I are continuously setting goals to build my skill set and difficulty.  Over the next year I plan to attend the University of Minnesota dive camp.  I plan to again dive with the Eau Claire Memorial divers at the UW Eau Claire dive clinic.  Goals for my Senior year season:  Return to State one last time and take my place among the Top Five!

In the classroom, I study hard and maintain a high GPA. I  am currently a member of our student government and help as a LINK leader and guide for all new incoming freshman.

I plan to attend a college where I can pursue an education in Environmental Sciences.   I would love to be able to dive as apart of my college experience.  Athletics helps build relationships and skill sets that are very useful as we prepare ourselves for the work force.  It would be amazing to be a part of a team, with like minded class mates who enjoy working hard, having fun and being the best team possible.

In addition to what is noted above, I also work two jobs, I am a lifeguard at the high school pool and I also teach gymnastics on Saturday morning through our community recreation organization.

I am not afraid of hard work and thank you in advance for your consideration.

Kind Regards,

Kayla Boettcher
