Personal Statement
The game of golf turned me from a young and naive girl who cried when she wasn't good at something to a strong young woman not only physically, but mentally as well. Playing an individual sport allows one to develop upper level skills such as self reliance and critical thinking that one would not learn with another team sport. These skills and the game overall are crucial to character development. Whether you perceive a bad shot as room for improvement or you just aren't good enough, is one of the many things that develop your character throughout one's experience playing the game. The game continues to challenge the mind of the player, but I have learned one of the most important things to remember when playing golf. Have fun. One cannot play as well stressed and tense than when they are relaxed. Although this might seem easy to comprehend, it is hard to execute. My score is not what defines me as a good player, but my character and ethics do.
Advancing to State my Freshmen and Junior year are two of the biggest highlights of my golf career. But what I didn't know that would come with the advancements was the struggle and heartache of not performing well. This poor performance pushed me forward to better my golf game as well as my mental game. It allowed me to see room for improvement that pushes me to work harder every chance I get. This work ethic and many other contributing qualities is what makes me a good candidate for your team!
