After being diagnosed at age eight with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, my doctors informed me that it would be best if I stopped competing in the sports I loved at the time; however, they also encouraged me to try playing golf. After finally picking up my first club, I instantly realized this was my sport. I love playing golf, whether it's competing in a match for my school, hitting a bucket of balls at the driving range, or working on my short game, golf is my favorite escape from school and stress. The sport itself is amazing, but also being able to be on a team makes it so much more enjoyable.
I go to one of the toughest high schools in the nation, Signature School in Evansville, Indiana. At my school, academics is the priority, but being able to balance a good academic, social, and athletic life has allowed me to grow and develop much needed time management skills. Even though life is rough sometimes, I am currently determined to survive my high school career, while maintaining an outgoing personality, and hopefully continuing to improve my golf score.
