Personal Statement
My name is Syeda Iman Ali Shah and I am an avid 18 years old golfer from Lahore Pakistan.
I am doing my High School which will be completed in 2022, I manage my golfing routine with my studies.
I started playing golf when I was only three years old. My parents believed I showed promise and had a natural knack for the game so they encouraged me to pursue the sport more seriously. Around my 15th birthday, I was already participating in tournaments around Pakistan. Over the course of time, I have bagged many achievements in golf. As I practice 28 hours a week, I have managed to drop my handicap to 8 from 36 in two years and my average score is 77, and average tournament score is 84. My strengths are driver shots and chipping.
Therefore, I would like to train at the international level and challenge the best players in the world. Also, I come from a very male dominated society where girls are usually not encouraged a lot to pursue their dreams as such. So, I want to become a source of inspiration for the girls in my country, and I want to motivate them towards this wonderful sport. At the personal level I held a golf coaching clinic in my backyard for the less privileged children who showed interest in golf.
Finally, I hope I am given this opportunity to build on my skills, as this would enable me to become a world class golf player.
