Personal Statement

Winning the New Zealand Under 17 Age Group Championship is my greatest achievement, competing against the top amateur golfers in the country.  Currently I am boarding at New Plymouth Girls High School, so my transition to studying in the USA will be easier.  As a high level amateur golfer, I feel I have the fundamental characteristics of a student-athlete.  I am a person that adapts well to change and can rise to any challenge that is before me.  As I am our region’s number one women’s golfer, I am very competitive and optimistic, which I believe are necessary attributes to succeed. I have also demonstrated leadership skills in my golf and schooling which would benefit a University/College team. I would like to extend my golf ability and further my education in a University/College that is the right fit for me. I want to be able to play and be amongst like-minded athletes and have access to the best facilities and coaches; this would help me as a student-athlete as well as the University/College. I am excited about expanding my network of friends and competitors and making the most of the opportunities that are ahead of me.
