Personal Statement
My name is Kate Rahfeldt. I started playing golf once a week in the local junior golf program at our public course the summer before 7th grade. It wasn't until the summer before I started high school that I found my passion for the sport. I had my first real golf lesson during the winter months of my freshman year. Going into my freshman spring golf season I knew what I wanted to accomplish, but I never thought that I'd exceed my goals and golf as the #1 golfer and make it to the state tournament as a freshman! To meet my goals I put in a lot of time and work in the offseason. Living in Iowa, I am restricted from practicing outside year-round, so I spend countless hours hitting inside on our simulator during the winter months. During the season, I find myself staying after practice and working on things I need to work on before an upcoming meet. I enjoy working with coaches to improve my game and am always looking for feedback and ways to improve. I go to practice with a positive attitude and work hard.
I also use these traits in school. My academics are very important to me. If I’m struggling in a class, I’m not afraid to ask for help. I was honored this spring to be inducted into the National Honor Society. I’m always looking to excel in the classroom and on the course.
I am a leader on and off the course. I strive to always do my best and encourage my teammates to do the same. I am looking forward to playing golf at the college level while studying Marketing and will be a great asset to a college program.
