Personal Statement
Hi, I’m Tana and I am a 17 years old and in my senior year at Columbus High School. I discovered my love of golf my freshman year. I made the Varsity team and have been hooked since. My first year I began shooting in the 120’s and quickly got into the teens, my second year I shot consistently in the 90’s and this year I shot consistently in the lower 80’s with a personal low of 77, at the Divisional Tournament. My goal for my senior year is to shoot in the upper 70’s.
I am an outstanding student, who understands that my grades always come first. I have a 3.75 GPA and take the Montana rigorous core curriculum. I am a three sport athlete. I participate in cross country (3 year letter winner), basketball (4 year letter winner), and golf (3 year letter winner). So far, my career golf highlights have included 3 trips to the state competition, Divisional Champion, all-conference and all-state my junior year, and all-conference my sophomore year.
My teammates call me the spark plug because I always keep them going. I am the team leader for basketball and golf. My coaches tell me I am I rare because I am so easy to coach. I enjoy being part of a team as well as the individual aspects of golf.
My family keeps me grounded. I am big sister to three siblings. I have participated in extracurricular activities such as Relay for Life, Student Council, Key Club, FCCLA, etc. I am a member of NHS and I volunteer in my local community for the Kid’s Shopping Day and the Stillwater Backpack Program.
I am interested in continuing my education and playing golf at the collegiate level. I am interested in all areas of science and aviation, so I would like to concentrate my studies in aeronautical science and possibly forensic biology. I am currently taking private pilot lessons and it is amazing. I am also interested in the golf industry, so I would love to continue my golf career after college. The sky is the limit for me, I am striving to be the very best I can be.
