Personal Statement
My name is Lauryn Ball. I am a junior at Lincoln Southwest High School in Lincoln, Nebraska. I will be graduating high school in May 2024.
Since I was very young, I was introduced to golf through the First Tee Program in Essex County NJ. As I have grown, my love for golf really became evident in my passion to play and compete.
While I have been playing golf for some time, I have been playing competitive golf for the past 5 years. Over the past two years, my golf game has improved significantly as I have been putting significant focus to improving my scores. I have challenged myself by playing in a mixture of competitive tournaments including AJGA, HJGT, and NGA (Nebraska Golf Association) State Championships and High School tournaments.
My first experience competing on a national level was at US Kids Teen World at Pinehust, North Carolina in 2021. This tournament gave me the opportunity to compete with top international athletes and motivated me to improve and take my game to the next level. That experience has pushed me to compete at various tournament series through NGA, AJGA, Hurricane Golf, USGA and PGA.
I am a highly competitive and passionate person. I have set many goals for myself in 2022 which include: aspire to play on a D1 competitive women’s golf team, average 75.0 or lower in tournament play, improve my short game from 100 yards in, and most importantly to improve my athletic ability and golf skills every single day.
Finding the right school to support my goals academically as a student athlete is very important. I work hard both on and off the golf course with a GPA of 4.1 on a 4.0 scale taking challenging honors and AP classes.
