Personal Statement

I have participated in sports my whole life, everything from football (linebacker in middle school) to basketball (my primary sport until I took up golf in high school and developed a love for that!) to sailing (I am a licensed US Sailing instructor) and more. I didn't play golf until my freshman year, but it turns out I'm pretty darn good at it and I love the individual accountability it provides. It may sound corny, but we are an outdoors kind of family and I also love that aspect of the game.

What else should you know about me?

-I'm the person you want to travel with. I always have a plan. I look out for myself as well as others. I'm going to have a good time and have everyone laughing and singing along with me.

-I'm the person you want on your team. I am a competitor. I'm not going to get upset, I'm just going to get it done. And I'm going to do my best to lift those around me up so they get it done as well.

-I'm the person you want at your school. I am a school pride kind of girl. Pride in athletics, academics and community. I want to succeed and I always find a way. But I am equally passionate about the well-being of others. I am that person who took to heart what my mother told me about making the world around you a better place.

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • NCHS State Championship
  • 10/23/17 to 10/24/17
  • I had a 6th place overall finish (out of 78) shooting 83 84.
  • Camp/Event
  • Conf. Championship
  • 10/09/17 to 10/09/17
  • Shot 77 to finish 1st and was awarded Conference Player of the Year.
  • Camp/Event
  • PKB
  • 8/26/17 to 8/26/17
  • 5752 yards (130/74.5). I played this challenging course pretty well. I shot an 87 with 6 pars and tied for 9th place out of 20. Out of bounds tee shot (slightly out) bit me on one hole, but other than that I was pretty solid. My putting is still very good, although these terraced greens made the one putt birdie hole that I have felt confident about elusive.
  • Camp/Event
  • Wayne County Invitational
  • 8/17/17 to 8/17/17
  • I finished in first place with a score of even par! This was a High School invitational, 30 golfers from Central and Eastern NC. It was shortened to a 9 hole match because of torrential rain and thunderstorms. I have to say that I was really on fire and it felt great. I made 2 birdies, 2 bogies and the rest pars. I recently got a new driver that I am really hitting well. I had a 275 (straight) yard drive on a 355 yard par 4 that felt great. My coach finally got through to me about using my approach wedge more in some situations to have better roll out and I have to say that improved my chipping results. 5629 yardage, 67.6 rating/118 slope
  • Camp/Event
  • PKB one day at Bryan Park (Players)
  • 7/24/17 to 7/24/17
  • I finished with a 90 for the day. My back 9 score was a 42 so I greatly improved on my start and I was proud of the way I stuck with it even with a bad opening hole. I think this shows my nature as a fighter that doesn't quit. 5800 yards
  • Camp/Event
  • Wolfpack Classic at NC State University
  • 7/01/17 to 7/02/17
  • 2 day tournament at a very challenging course. Weather conditions brutal too with heat index over 100 degrees. This course is also a very long walking course. I had played 2 matches earlier in the week in similar heat, so I thought I would be somewhat acclimated. I finished in the top 10 for that day. I had 6 pars and 1 birdie for the round and shot an 87. I felt really good about the way I played. My feet were an absolute nightmare though, with blisters from the sweat making my feet slide in my shoes. In hindsight, I should have changed socks midway through the round. I work up on Day 2 telling my parents that I just didn't know if I could play that day. I'm really tough, but I was in so much pain from the blisters and I think run down from playing 3 matches in 100 degree heat that week. (I wanted to withdraw, but I've never withdrawn from anything and I thought I could push through. I played the worst 9 holes of my golf life I think to start this day. We started on #10. I tripled the first hole (shots in the deep rough) and then made a 10 on the next par 5. I'm not going to lie, I was devasted. Several girls were withdrawing and truthfully I wanted to as well. But, I didn't. I continued to struggle through that 9 holes and shot a 57. I have never wanted to leave a course in the middle of a round, but I did want to that day. But, I changed my socks, painted on some more "new skin" and tried to get my mind right for the finishing 9. I was able to shoot a 48 to finish out and I actually felt pretty proud to stay in it, keep fighting and even though it was a really disappointing 105 score for my round that day-and I fell way down the leaderboard (but not last!!)-I did not let Lonnie Poole Golf Course defeat me. 5831 yards, Rating:72.8, slope: 132
  • Camp/Event
  • PKB One Day Tournament
  • 6/26/17 to 6/26/17
  • I shot an 84 in this tournament and placed 3rd. I feel really good about the way I played, even though I know I left some shots out there. The Club was holding their Member/Guest last week and so didn't allow any practice rounds to be played prior. This was my first time seeing the course and I managed with a yardage book and feel. PKB Prep Series, 5657 yards, Slope: 130, Rating 72.7
  • Camp/Event
  • TYGA one day tournament
  • 6/04/17 to 6/04/17
  • This 18 hole tournament got shortened to 9 holes after an hour storm delay and restart in the weather window. I had an awful start....I can't even come up with an excuse for how I managed such a terrible opening hole other than to say I am now doing major bunker practice. After an opening quad on hole one, I settled down and shot 3 pars and 4 bogeys to finish with a 46. I was proud of how I was able to keep calm and keep myself together after the bad start and I think I could have improved my score substantially on the backside as I was playing well.
  • Camp/Event
  • CGA Vicki DiSantis GIrls CHampionship
  • 5/13/17 to 5/14/17
  • Challenging rounds for me...while I made 5 pars and 6 bogeys day one, I still finished with a 95. Day 2 I think I just tried to press too much and had 1 birdie, 1 par and 8 bogeys and shot a 97. The score may not indicate it, but I learned a lot about course management this tournament that will help me in the future. The course was playing 6083 yards. Distance is not a challenge for me, but I was using different clubs with my approach shots.
  • Camp/Event
  • PKB Masters Series
  • 4/22/17 to 4/23/17
  • We played from 6020 yards. I shot a 93 on the first day and 88 on day 2 for a 181 overall.
  • Camp/Event
  • PKB tournament
  • 4/15/17 to 4/15/17
  • This was a one day tournament. 5700 yards and I shot a 94. The greens were punched 2 days prior to the tournament and putting was an adventure. I went 49/45, so I figured it out a bit on the back side.
  • Camp/Event
  • TYGA Archdale Trinity Juniors
  • 3/18/17 to 3/19/17
  • I was pleased with the improvement I made in this tournament. I shot an 86 on the first day. The second day we had 25 MPH winds gusting to 35 and it was 36 degrees at my 8 am tee-time. I struggled some on this day and shot a 97...overall 183 and finished 10th.
  • Camp/Event
  • TYGA One Day tournament
  • 1/16/17 to 1/16/17
  • I decided to start playing on the tournament circuit in order to improve my game by competing at a higher level. Boy, was this a rude awakening. It was cold (in the 40's) and windy and I was still playing basketball on my school team. I shot a 107 and went home with my tail between my legs, but resolved to improve.
  • Camp/Event
  • NCHSAA 1A/2A State Championships
  • 10/24/16 to 10/25/16
  • Competed in the NC State Championships. I had a challenging 1st day and shot a 98, but turned it around on the second day with a 90 and finished T26 out of 78
  • Camp/Event
  • 2016 NCHSAA 1A/2A East Regional
  • 10/18/16 to 10/18/16
  • I finished tied for 3rd at Regionals with an 81 and moved on to compete in NC State Championships
