Personal Statement
My name is Addison Rudicile and I have a passion for film, photography and golf. I first found my passion when I was a freshmen in high school. I picked up a camera for the 1st time and filmed myself dancing in places I had traveled that summer. Making the video really inspired my interest to pursue my love for film making and photography. My high school doesn't have many opportunities for me so I have learned to teach myself and make opportunities. Thanks to the football team, I have made several hype videos to help me grow as a film maker. I love to photograph and film sports because I love the hype of it! The reason I want to major in film is because I love to be creative and tell stories.
As for golf, in spring of 8th grade I randomly went up to the golf coach and I asked if I could be on the team. For me, this was the most random thing because I had never played or watched golf in my whole life. When the season started in the spring, 8th grade year, I was one of the top golfers for my school. I ended up really liking the sport so I tried out for women's golf in the fall the same year. It was a slow start but I have always been competitive so it pushed me to work harder and stay after practice to work on my game. My freshman year I went to regionals with the team. Our team tied for 3rd place and ended up going into sudden death play off with another team and I had the third seat during the playoff. Our team won the playoffs and we went to state. My sophomore year I started off great until I had a hip injury. My hip injury really affected my game and I was only able to play a few matches to qualify myself for regionals. Unfortunately at regionals that year, my hip was in so much pain I almost had to withdrew from the competition but I wanted to finish to out to support my teammates. After regionals later that spring, my hip wasn't getting better so I went back to the doctor. There I was told I had a hip impingement and a labral tear. I was devastated by the news because I was told I would need arthroscopic surgery and the recovery time would be 6 months. During recovery, all I could think about was getting back to golf. When August came around, I was finally clear to play golf at the beginning of season. Junior year was the year. I got back into golf and started getting a few lessons here and there. I wanted to be the very best for myself and my teammates. I made it regionals and state that year. As a team, we placed 3rd at regionals and 6th in the state. This year as a senior, I have really worked hard to push myself. I have met with a golf coach to help train me and improve my scores, I have done some tournament play through the summer, and have been working hard to get to my goal which is to play college golf. If I have learned anything from golf, it has been to always try your best, its all about the next stroke, its both a team and individual sport, and it's all about having fun and meeting new people. When I am on the golf course not only am I there to compete and give it my all, but I am there to have fun and make new friends.
