Personal Statement

Hello! My name is Cameryn Smith and I am currently a Jr at West Brunswick High School in Shallotte, NC. My dream is to attend and play collegiate golf. I'm a very competitive person who is always striving to beat my personal best. I believe that golf is just as much mental as well as physical skill. I just started playing golf seriously after my Freshman year, when I was the first girl in school history to make Regionals, and then went on to compete at the State level. It's then that I realized that this is what I love to do, and became serious about it. Since my freshman year, my average has dropped 34+ strokes. I'm working with some new coaches and just made a total equipment change and feel confident those tools will get me shooting consistently in the mid 70's by this summer. I consider myself a team player, very coachable and able to take instruction very well. I enjoy the challenge of taking on other girls and also the course itself. I'm very involved with The First Tee of Brunswick County and have been able to travel nationwide through this organization. Academically I hold a 3.7 GPA taking honors courses and was just recently invited to join the National Honors Society. Thank you for taking the time to read a little about me!
