I was introduced to golf in my freshman year of high school and through practice, lessons and tournaments my score improved by 20 strokes. Since I've started playing golf I’ve been able to make new friends and create great relationships with the people I've met along the way.
In school I’m often the person to encourage my friends when they're having a bad day. But now I find myself not only encouraging my teammates but also my opponents and pushing them when I see them giving up. Over the years of playing this sport I've grown in my leadership role with my last year being captain of our Squad. In the role of a leader I feel it my responsibility to help, encourage and share the knowledge to help others grow in this sport.
I try to be open to new opportunities. As a result, an opportunity came where I was able to play with my PGA coach in a junior PGA tournament at the Firestone Country Club golf course. That experience changed my mindset and helped me to step up my game. While participating in my sport it is really important for me to stay balanced. While playing sports, my academics have always been and will continue to be a priority while practicing my athleticism.
