Personal Statement

Hello!  I am Rachel Huber and I have had a fantastic high school career playing for Stow Munroe Falls High School golf team.   Each year I met my goal of knocking 4 - 7 strokes off my average score for a round.  As a junior in 2013, my final scoring average was an 82, I was recognized as the "Player of the year" for our conference, a medalist at the NOC championships, and my varsity girls golf team won the division championship having an undefeated season.  As an individual I advanced to the Divisional championship round.

I am an individual that plays to win - this has been my culture since I started competing on a national level at the age of 5 as a baton twirler.  I have been a member of the USA world team where we won two gold medals in 2012 in Switzerland, in 2013 I won the National / world 3 baton championship and have represented the State of Ohio at Nationals each year at Notre Dame University.

Academically I have been on the merit / honor role each grading period since attending high school.  I am in the career program for teaching earning college credits, which is what I look to major in at your university.  As a freshman I was awarded an Academic Letter for outstanding achievement.  In addition I am a member of the Athletic Leadership Council, appointed by our athletic director.  I am recognized as a finalist for the annual sportsmanship award for my involvement and success in sports.

When not competing, practicing or playing my sport, I volunteer and support my community.  I have been a caddy at Portage Country Club for 2 years, volunteer at the Bridgestone PGA golf tournament and also perform volunteer work at Akron General Hospital and Wellness Center.

  • To Whom It May Concern: This letter is in reference to Rachel Huber, whom I have known for the past several years. Miss Huber has been a student of mine since 2012 and has exemplified many of the qualities I am confident you are seeking not only within your team, but University as well. I consider Rachel to be a diligent, responsible, and hard-working natural athlete. Her work ethic is unrivaled and continues to display great leadership qualities. In addition to Miss Huber’s outstanding work ethic on the range and golf course, Rachel has displayed the same dedication in the classroom, and in her athletic endeavors. Not only is she passionate and talented on the course, but she is also nationally ranked in baton twirling, showing; certainly this showcases her many talents through diverse endeavors. Miss Huber is an outstanding example of a well rounded young woman. In personal dealings with Rachel I have found her to be a polite and pleasant individual who represents the very best that the Stow has to offer. As Rachel’s swing coach, I have followed her many personal accomplishments while on the golf course and look forward to seeing her continue to grow, gain additional experiences and progress her game over the next year through her many planned Spring/Summer junior tournaments. I look forward to watching her scores continue to drive lower on a consistent basis. While her dedication and work ethic is impressive, I am even more impressed by Rachel as a young woman. In conclusion, I feel that Rachel Huber would be an asset to you institution of higher learning. She has displayed the leadership, character, and dedication that would benefit your university. If I can be of further assistance regarding Rachel Huber, please do not hesitate to contact me at 330-310-1218. Sincerely, Joseph E.
