Personal Statement

My name is Amanda Steier and I am in the class of 2019 at Greencastle-Antrim High School in Greencastle, PA. In college, I look forward to getting the best education possible while playing golf competitively. I am a goal-driven individual who knows the value of hard work and an education. I am motivated and very coachable.

I began playing golf at the age of 5, but I did not begin competing until 2014. Prior to playing competitive golf, I was a dancer and played basketball and field hockey. Since I made the commitment to play golf full-time in 2015, I have worked very hard, and have made a lot of progress in a short amount of time. I have had a successful 2017. The swing changes I have been working on with my coach, Ted Sheftic, are really starting to pay off. As I look forward to 2018, I have my goals set high, including a tournament scoring average of 79 and a qualification for the state championship.

I know that I will play golf in college and I am excited about the possibility. With my commitment to education, competitive spirit, leadership skills, and evolving golf game, I feel as though I have what it takes to be a great addition to your team. I invite you to follow my career as I continue to compete in the PIAA, HJGT, IJGT and Franklin County Junior Golf Association.
