My name is Lauren Golden, a 5'4"/ 115 lb sophomore golfer from Scranton Preparatory School in Northeastern, Pennsylvania. I pride myself on my academic achievements in a top Jesuit school. I choose a school that sets high expectations on character, integrity, and academic excellence. Being fortunate to receive the Ignatius Scholar award for my academic performance, I was inspired early on to push for excellence in my career. This year, in the second quarter I achieved high honors with above a 90 average in all of my classes. Now, I am able to help my classmates who need help in all subjects. Being a peer and mentor to my fellow classmates, gives me great satisfaction in supporting the values our school has set as an expectation.
On the golf course for school, I was given the opportunity to play our teams 1 spot. We finished the season 4th in the state, as a team. For individuals, I was District Champion, and 9th in the Region. I lead my team to back to back District Team Championships. I also selected for the second straight year for the "All-Region First Team". Working closely with my team captain, I was able to connect with the girls on the team by contributing to both our success as a team, but to assist with helping the girls with their swings and green reads. I was always very positive and tried to motivate all of the girls in all of our matches. Winning top freshman and sophomore honors in every tournament helps to motivate them to challenge themselves to always reach inside themselves to do better.
Apart from school golf, I played in the Pa. JrPGA series where I finished the season 5th in points out of 53 competitors. I won a number of tournaments and medaled in every event on the season. I am not a person that can be outworked or told something is impossible to do. I always make the most of every opportunity both, in practice and matches. I would appreciate any opportunity I am given regardless.
Other aspects as to who I am, excluding golf and school, that I enjoy doing in the off season. I am a member of the Finer Things Club, the high school basketball team, a hospital volunteer, an AAU basketball club player, and the varsity boys lacrosse team manager. In the past, I played travel and club lacrosse, along with being an Irish Step Dancer for 7 years. In elementary/ middle school, I was elected Student Council President for 3 consecutive years by the student body. Leading my school in creating fundraising programs to support local charities and developing after school clubs.
I'm proud of who I am as a person. My parents have set expectations on what values and character is needed to be a solid person in society. I understand what hard work and dedication is needed to be a well rounded student athlete, at any level of college play. I believe fortitude, enthusiasm, and hard work is always the perfect formula to a successful plan.
Thank you.
