Lauren Fix '18 Recruiting Profile

Hello.  My name is Lauren Fix and I have a genuine passion for golf.  I recently just signed to play golf for Converse College. While attending LPGA camps over the summer for as long as I can remember, golf has been a constant source of fun and learning.  Having been asked to join in the high school team in eighth grade, I was motivated to bring my best for the team, making the 5th slot and being named "Rookie of the Year."  In my freshman season, I committed my summer again to the LPGA camps as well as the SC Junior Golf Association league tournaments - - finishing in first place at the finale and 4th place overall at my first showing.  From there I made it through to the second round of The Masters Drive, Chip and Putt competition.  During the freshman season, I won closest to the pin at regionals, a hole-in-one against Wando, and was the gold medalist at the James Island match.  More importantly, throughout the season, I shaved over 20 strokes off my game (going from 106 to shooting in the 80's).  I believe I am the well-rounded student athlete most colleges would seek given I have a solid 4.3 GPA in honors classes while balancing rigorous practice schedules.  This is further demonstrated by my receiving the "Sportsmanship Award."  Through my sophomore and junior year, I have risen through the ranks of my team and have challenged myself by participating in many national Hurricane Junior Golf Tournaments at college length courses.  I also was asked to participate as an intern with the LPGA summer camp for girls held over the 2016 summer at Wescott Country Club.  It was an honor to be part of that program and share my knowledge and passion for golf with younger girls. I am very excited to be playing golf at Converse college next year!  Doing so will allow me to continue to add value to the team while earning a quality education.
