Personal Statement
I began playing golf at the age of 4 when my Dad took me to the driving range for the first time. I participated in my first tournament when I was 5yrs old and have loved the game ever since then. I have made several great friends playing golf that I spend time with off the course as well. One thing that I have learned and still learning is under all circumstances to trust myself and have confidence in every situation that I might face and know that there is not any situation that I cannot come back from.
Academically, I am looking for ways to continue to challenge myself through advanced classes and stepping out of my comfort zone when it comes to new challenges at school. I will be focused on continuing to be an honor roll student throughout my high school career and taking that same focus and dedication onto college.
The biggest obstacle that I have had to overcome is knowing that no matter how much I practice or prepare, I will never play up to my own expectations. I am a perfectionist at heart and that is what has driven me to prepare when I am not competing, but understanding that nothing will ever come out the way I plan it on the course and that each round will provide it's own set of unexpected challenges I will have to face and overcome has been the biggest obstacle that I have faced in my time as a competitive golfer.
My goal is to be a consistent contributor to my school and a good team mate to everyone on my team. I understand the work ethic and dedication it will take to become a top team contributor not only during tournament play, but everything leading up to that moment such as scheduled practices and non scheduled practices. I am very goal focused in the classroom as well as on the course and willing to work tirelessly to achieve my personal and team goals.
