My name is Mattingly Palmer and I am a 2021 aspiring college golfer. I am looking to attend a university where I would get an exemplary education all while having the opportunity to further hone my golf skills along side women who have the same passion for golf.
I began playing golf at a young age and was the Austin US Kids 8 year old player of the year. I also had a love of tumbling and track. I became involved at the highest level of competitive cheer and tumbling and had the opportunity to compete at The World's at the ESPN Center in Florida in 2016. The following summer I qualified for and competed in The Junior Olympics in triple jump, missing qualifying for the 100 meter dash by 0.08 seconds.
After success in several sports, I have realized my true passion and gift is in golf. I have recently directed my efforts completely to competitive golf. I have qualified for the 5A State Championship my freshman and sophomore year finishing 20th and 10th. Over the last year and a half, I have worked hard to get my tournament scoring average to a 77. Over the coming year, my goal is to get my scoring average down to 75 with a rigorous practice plan that includes daily short game drills, frequent playing lessons with my coach, Buck Mayers, as well as morning track workouts. My goal is to qualify for the US Girls Junior Amateur next summer.
I currently have a 4.0 unweighted GPA and 5.39 of 6.0 weighted GPA and am ranked 21 of 489 students in my 5A school. I work hard on the golf course and in the classroom to help me achieve my ultimate goal of obtaining a business degree and ultimately playing golf professionally.
