Personal Statement

I am an incoming Junior and the #1 on our Varsity team.  My goal this year is to consistently be in the mid 70s.  I have been playing competitive golf since I was 7 years old but due to my parents work schedules was only able to work on my game over the summer. I finally broke 80 and am working on breaking par.

I played soccer and basketball growing up as well as golf.

I want to find the right D2 or D3 college that will allow me to attain my degree and play on a golf team that can grow together and support each other.

My NTPGA page is https://www.bluegolf.com/a/#/players/player/kfreeman80

  • So glad we had signed up. I was feeling better after fighting COVID during the week (Dr said I was cleared to be out Friday). I wasn't 100% but played very well. It was a best ball tournament and I shot 75-76 over the 2 days. My dad helped me a little haha he helped our team score be 72-73. Since this is the same course I won the district championship at it was great to see how low I could score under tournament conditions.

  • Ft Worth girl's city championship
  • 7/11/22 to 7/14/22
  • This is the 4 day city championship. Some of the best golfers in North Texas play in this as its open to all girls in the area. Last year I was able to make the cut and play the championship round at Colonial Country Club the host of the Charles Schwab PGA tournament. I did not play well there last year so I hope to not only make the cut but play up to my standards. UPDATE - I was not shooting well on day 1 and at least put together a 5 over 41 on the back 9. I thought I wasn't adjusted back to the heat after being in Washington State to visit family 2 weeks ago. Nope it was illness. I am finally feeling better on the day I should have been playing Colonial CC. I had to withdraw. Hopefully I will have better luck next year. Nothing like playing in 90+ degree temps with a fever of 102. Since it was so hot, I thought I was just struggling in the heat. Given all the lost tournaments over the years it hurt to lose the opportunity to play in this great event.

  • NTPGA Tangle Ridge
  • 6/23/22 to 6/23/22
  • This course hosts our regional championship. Hope to play well here. It all depends on the wind. I had a good day! I came out of the gate on fire and shot a 38 (+2) on my first 9 (Started on 10). I was playing well on my last 9 (Front 9) but a double bogie on the #1 hcp hole #8 cost me a 79. I ended with an 80 which considering the wind was a solid score for a tie for 3rd place. Winner shot 78. I had 1 birdie on hole 18. A good score, but I failed to capitalize on a couple of birdie chances in my range. Looking forward to my lesson next week with my new swing coach in Burlington, WA (SVGC) as coach Craig helped transform my putting last year.

  • NTPGA Squaw Creek
  • 6/14/22 to 6/14/22
  • NTPGA tournament at Squaw Creek GC. This is where I won my district championship. I want to shoot in the 70s! Since NTPGA is making us play the red tees I am using these to work on shots while trying to shoot a good score. I shot a 40 on the front and felt the heat a bit on the back as I shot a 48. I did drive 2 of the short par 4s (279 and 299) led to a birdie and a par as both found greenside sand. Later in the day the winds spiked up to 40+ mph which made some shots tougher than normal.

  • It was hot this am. High was 102. Getting used to the summer heat and a new putter. I had my first hole in one on #5 100 yds (water surrounding right and front). I shot a 40 on the front 9 and a 48 on the back. I had 8 par putts from 4' or less that should have gone in that did not, about 4 lipped out.

  • The First Tee of Ft Worth Battle for the Boot preview vs FT Dallas
  • 6/02/22 to 6/02/22
  • First tournament of Summer, played from the white tees. My old putter broke (insert fell out). Since it was a "cheaper" old wilson putter and the fix was no guaranteed I got 2 new putters so I am working through getting used to them to see which is my best performer. Shot 87. Will get better as from these tees in the past I have shot 80. Play here frequently since its the home course of my First Tee chapter.

  • UIL Region 1-6A tournament
  • 4/20/22 to 4/21/22
  • The first day was crazy the winds were constant at 24 mph with gusts up to 50. I couldn't find the fairway off of the tee and struggled to a 92. Day 2 was much better, still had wind to 15+ but was able to shoot much better 40/42. Finally got a birdie to drop on 18 from 7 feet. I took a triple on the toughest hole on the course #8 (1 hcp). found the creek off the tee and it didn't get better from that. If not for that I had a legit chance at 79 from 6100 yds. We played mostly from the white tees with a few backed to the blues. I missed a 4 ft par putt on 9 that would've been a 39 front. Was really close to breaking my personal best of 79.
  • Camp/Event
  • District 3-6A championship
  • 3/30/22 to 3/31/22
  • 2 day tournament I was 5 shots away from winning this last year at Hawks Creek GC. UPDATE -The coaches had voted me the favorite to win the individual title this year. I DID IT!!, I am the district 3-6A Champion! After a grueling 2 days in cold (for Texas) temps plus 25-35 mph North winds. Made it a tough place to play for all. Day 1 - I came out well with a 41 and struggled on the back 9 that is 300 yards longer. It's not the distance it's the shape of some of the greens, fairways, etc. Lots of sand, I hit 3 fairway bunkers today. At the end of day 1, I was 2 shots back with an 88. Day 2- I came out on fire and was (-1) through 7. I had a lapse in my focus and took a triple on par 3, #8 but was able to regain my focus and par #9 for a front nine 37 (+2). On the back nine the wind picked up from its calmer morning. I had a few tough holes and a birdie on the back 9 to finish with an 85. Both days I had put my tee shot in the water on #17 a par 3, 132 yds that is all carry over the lake. It was tough because due to the 20 MPH tail wind I had to choke down on my 9 iron. Both days I almost holed out my 2nd tee shot for par. One led to a bogey the other led to a double. On 18 I caught a tree and was dumped in the ravine so I took a drop. I was able to calm my nerves as my heart was pounding. I hit a solid 4th shot leaving me 85 yds to an elevated green I couldn't see the pin as the elevation change was at least 70 feet. My playing partner's dad was also her school's coach. He told me under the pressure, circumstances etc. I hit he best shot he has seen in his coaching career as I put my approach to 2 feet to save bogie. I had no idea that shot would be the difference between winning and a 3 way tie for first and only 2 spots in regionals.

  • District Preview
  • 3/22/22 to 3/22/22
  • District Preview the week before districts. I plan on playing here 4-6 times before districts as I want to play well. What a tough day, 20mph winds and it was colder than the 45 degree temp showing. I had a solid round. A little trouble with my driver early. But I managed to 40/40 for an 80 and first place by 3 shots. I had a 5 ft par for a 79 on 18 that burned the edge. I had the 3rd eagle of my high school career from 85 yds out on #5 par 4. These greens are still much faster than most courses especially for a public course. I managed them well today. I had 2 putts stop on the lip, 2 burn the edge and 2 lip out. I hope I can improve on this next week. My school has never had a district team or individual champion in golf for boys or girls.

  • Fossil Creek HS - Diamond in the rough tournament
  • 3/07/22 to 3/07/22
  • Getting to play my home club for the first time in my career. I am working hard to shoot well here and hope to win the tournament! I had a very rough start today luckily, I kept my cool which was easy today (36 degrees at tee time), I shot a +3 back 9 to salvage an 83 and win the tournament by 1 shot. I was having trouble getting warm on the first 6 holes hence my struggles. With my jacket on I couldn't get a good swing without it I was freezing! It was tough since I played on Friday and Saturday at the regional preview in 70-degree temps. Once the temperature got above 40, I was able to take it off to swing then put it back on for walking /putting. I had 3 solid birdie chances and left 2 on the lip. I hope we play here again in the Fall as I know I can shoot par! 5029 yards, 69.8/116. I helped carry my team to a 2nd place finish.

  • Regional Preview at Tangle Ridge GC
  • 3/04/22 to 3/05/22
  • 2 day regional preview hope the weather is nice. 3 years ago my sister played here and day 2 it was delayed due to overnight lows of 18 and a daytime high of 35. Happened again, this tournament was postponed a week due to us having bad weather. We teed off at 1 PM, had to wait for the the boys to finish their tournament. Played from the white tees 5,969 yds 74.5/136 DAY 1 - 20 mph winds with gusts to 30 mph as this course is on Joe Pool Lake. I shot very well. The greens were not in good shape as I had 3 putts that hopped on the way to the hole and stopped 1-3 inches from falling, shot 82 (41/41). My lone birdie that fell was from 15' feet. I had a total of 33 puts (14 on back 9). DAY 2 the winds increased to 25mph with gusts to 35. I shot well again and was on my way to an 83 until I had a quad on a par 4 due to skulling my chip across the green twice. It was uphill chip about 10 ft above my head on the first one. Followed that with a triple as my tee shot was pushed by the wind into a tree that knocked it OB on the next hole (I was 20 yds from driving the day before 309 yds) finished with a 90 (42/48) No birdies today although I had several chances just didn't convert.

  • Tour 18 (74/140 5,493) is the toughest 18 holes in golf. Its recreated some of the most memorable holes most notably the par 3 island green from the TPC Sawgrass, amen corner, etc http://www.tour18-dallas.com/. I had the worst day I've had in a long time. 15-20 mph winds on a tough course at just under 5500 yds. I hit 4 good drives all day the only benefit I can take out of the tough day was finishing with par-birdie-par on my last 3 holes. Just missed a hole in one on my 17th hole par 3 #5 (recreation of #10 at winged foot) playing 140 yds. I flew the pin and it came back down to about a foot and a half (I made the birdie). I stumbled to a 101. First Spring tournament and the last week we couldn't get out to practice due to N Texas being closed for 2 days + for snow. Wasn't hitting driver well, lots of approach shots flew the green. I would like to play a tournament here in the summer or fall when my game is in shape. The winner shot 91, so it was a tough day for all.

  • Denton HS Invitational
  • 11/15/21 to 11/15/21
  • This is where we will have the district championship in the spring. Today was a bit chilly (43 at tee time). I played ok, but had 3 triples. 1 was a gamble from a fairway bunker that didn't pay off and the other 2 were from bad golf luck (hitting out of a divot, too much draw on a tee shot). I finished with an 86. Almost had another eagle from 120 yds made the 10 inch birdie. 43-43 split started on 8th hole. I'm still getting used to these greens as they are faster then what I am used to. I know what I need to work on to win the individual district title this year! Just have to work on that and execute when it matters.

  • Trinity HS Invitational
  • 11/09/21 to 11/09/21
  • Came into the tournament feeling less than 100%. I started out rough. Took triples on 1st and 3rd holes. I shot an even par last 9 (Front 9 of the course). To shoot an 80. My birdie putt on my last hole lipped out. Starting out 7 over through the first three holes was not fun but being 2 over the last 15 feels pretty good! I made birdie putts of 12 and 16 feet. The winner shot a -1 (70). It was a short course but lots of dog legs, 4962yds , 69/120. Considering I wasn't sure if I would be able to physically finish, I'm happy with the score.

  • Seguin HS Invitational
  • 10/12/21 to 10/12/21
  • This is where our regional tournament will be. I was playing well all day. Had 2 triples that ruined my score. On the #2&5 handicap holes. Shot 82. First place shot 75. Course conditions were tough 25 + winds all day. Heavy rain for 2 holes and overcast all day. I shot 41/41 split. I had 5 one putts. unfortunately I had 4 3 putts. I know I can shoot better as one of the triples was poor club selection off the tee (hazard) and the other was poor execution. I hit 11 fairways and 11 greens in reg. Had 35 total putts. It was overcast and very windy and it rained for 2 holes. What an interesting round.

  • The First Tee Battle of the Boot.
  • 10/09/21 to 10/09/21
  • The First Tee of Ft Worth is hosting the First Tee of Dallas. We won the Boot trophy last year and look to retain it in a Rider Cup style match. My best friend and partner Lauren Gatsos and I will be playing 4 ball from the white tees (5900 yds) the boys will be playing form the blues (6400 yds). We are playing against 2 boys from Dallas. Hopefully the girls will prevail on our home course. It always seems like our branch has more ladies representing the team than the Dallas side does. Hopefully we can rally all that girl power to keep the boot where it belongs! UPDATE - Lauren and I played well but lost our match 5and3. We were playing against a couple of boys who shot a 72 to our 77. We won 1 hole on a birdie when their birdies lipped out. I kept my own score and we finished playing the last 4, I shot an 81. We played from the white tees (6044 yds) and the boys played the Blue tees (6609 yds). It was a great experience and am glad we retained the boot! At the last minute we were moved from Rockwood to Pecan Valley Hills course due to tournament at Rockwood that bumped us last minute.

  • First school tournament of the year. Shot ok, had some bad luck, lots of mud in fairways and standing water. Putting was tough due to the conditions. I drove 1 green (340 thanks to help from the wind, but couldn' t putt as there was a large band of mud in my way. Shot a 90 and first place shot 85.

  • 9/11/21 to 9/11/21
  • This is the qualifier to see who makes the team to play against the First Tee of Dallas. The girls played a red/white combo tee and it was coed so I was competing against good competition from boys and girls! I shot my personal best on a course I had not played since I was 10. Shot 79 and took 2nd place. The last 5 holes were tough as all the others had finished and were watching and I stumbled home with bogies on the last 5 holes. Its very hard to finish with all of your friends watching. They were a little noisy around the tees but very encouraging on the greens! 5525 yds/72.2/124. had 3 putts that were within 2 revolutions of going in and an eagle on par 5 that was 4 inches left of the hole (made the birdie). Great learning experience.

Very encouraged and motivated as it should have been a 78. I will be in the 70s this school year! This is where my district tournament will be held this year, so with scores like this I should be considered a favorite to be the district champ. I am putting all my effort to not only accomplish that but make the state tournament as well. I putted well today had 1 birdie. First place shot an 80 and a total of 18 girls competed today.

  • Hope to play well. The last few years the championship bracket plays their final round at Colonial Country Club. Ended up with 3.5 rounds as Mondays round my home club was rained out. I was 3 over through 8 holes. We were playing from 5700 yds (modified green tees). Day 2 at Squaw creek was tough conditions due to the rain. Stumbled a bit, the good 9 pars, the bad shot 92. Better at Mira Vista 5600 yds had 10 pars but 1 bunker that was like the British open I took a tough 8 on a par 4. Shot an 87 . Had a great time playing Colonial CC on Thursday. Very tough playing PGA conditions had 2 pars and missed a hole in 1 on 16 (ball mark 6 inches left of the cup, made the birdie) bad score 103 (5900 yds). Tired after 4 days but learned a lot.

  • I hit the ball ok but not consistent enough. We played from the white tees 6095 yds. Tight fairways cost me too many shots. Had to take 4 penalty strokes as the officials wouldn't let me re-tee on a lost ball by the tall rough and the OB marker. That was 4 shots I could've used back... Finished with a 94. I took 3rd place but its not because I played well. I am getting used to the heat and humidity, that will help in future rounds.

Was only +1 on the par 3s. Hit driver well but couldn't maintain my energy or should have shot my normal mid 80s even from the longer tees. My dad makes me play the whites when we play at Diamond Oaks so I am used to 6000 yds. Playing tomorrow at Prairie Lakes, hopefully it goes better. The earlier tee time should help.

  • I am working to play well here. My goal is to be the individual district champion and win this 2 day tournament! If I play to my potential I can win this tournament. I came in to the event feeling ready to win. Unfortunately my putting did not cooperate. I had 14 birdie chances over the 2 days and made only 1. I ended in 6th place out of 33. Good enough for all district team but 1 shot short of moving on to regionals. Drove the ball very well, but putting was not well. I had a chance at an 81 on day 1 but had extreme bad luck/execution on 16 and 17 which led to triples ( I was +1 on the back 9 until that point). Day 2 was tough with 30 mph winds and it made approach shots wayward. 87-89 2 day total was consistent but not up the the standards I set for myself. Will have to put my putter some where warm as it was ice cold both days. First place shot 169.

  • The winners of this will represent the First Tee of Ft Worth against the First Tee of Dallas in the Battle for the boot in October.**I had a good day, shot 84. Finished in 5th place behind 3 boys and 1 girl all in the 70s. I had doubles on 3 and 16 (hit the pin with my par put, if allowed to pull I think it would have dropped) were the only blemishes on my card. Hitting the ball better and more consistently in the fairway off the tee.

  • I hit the ball well today on way to an 83 (41-42). I had 4, 3 putts so I could have shot 79 or better . No bad holes today and only 1 double bogie. Hitting my driver very well. Now need to clean up around the green. I am looking forward to playing Texas Star next week.

  • I shot much better on the back 9 (42). It all came down to 1 ball on hole 2 that I hit OB and couldn't recover from (took 9). Due to that I shot a 90. I learned a tough lesson today I took a 2 stroke penalty on what I thought was out of bounds and was only a hazard. Should have been an 89. Hit driver much better today. My score per hole info can be seen on my here -https://ntpgajr.bluegolf.com/bluegolf/ntpgajr20/event/ntpgajr20377/contest/1/leaderboard.htm

  • 2/24/20 to 2/24/20
  • Tough course with PGA quality fast greens. I did not shoot as well as I can. Weather was tough (50 degrees with 30 mph wind gusts on greens that were tough. I hit several greens with approach shots that did not stick. I shot a 105. Several holes I had par putts but due to their speed I ended with bogies or worse.
  • Camp/Event
  • Region 1 Preview
  • 2/14/20 to 2/15/20
  • Our first school tournament of the year is the 2 day regional preview. I shot a 93-98 (191) for my two days. I hit the ball well with my driver (almost drove 2 short par 4s - 280 yd holes), but my putting was not where I know it can be. I know what I need to work on. The temperature on Friday started at 38 degrees and although warmer on Saturday (started at 48 degrees) the wind was blowing making the course play tougher as it sits on Joe Pool lake.
  • Camp/Event
  • L D Bell Invitational
  • 11/19/19 to 11/19/19
  • First time playing this course in full. Learned a lot about how to play better next time. I made par on my first hole, but had too many tee shots that were just wide enough to be bad. Lots of tight tree lined fairways. Shot 102.
  • Camp/Event
  • Trinity High School Invitational
  • 11/06/19 to 11/06/19
  • I have played this course a few times before and am putting in the work to shoot well here. I played it this summer and only hit 3 wood off the tee and shot 94. I had a good day but finished poorly. I shot a 47 on the front and a 49 on the back. The last 3 holes ruined my card. I had a solid chance at an 86 but took 2 maxes on the last 3 holes. I was fighting my driver all day still working on getting that more consistent I had 6 pars and all of them were because my drive was in the fairway. Made 1 birdie on #3 par 3 from 25 feet.
  • Camp/Event
  • Regional preview at Tangle Ridge GC
  • 10/08/19 to 10/08/19
  • I did not shoot as well as I wanted to. I had a decent short game and had a 12 ft eagle putt lip out on par 5 13th. Made too many mental mistakes and shot 96. 2 really bad holes cost me an 88.
  • Camp/Event
  • Shootout at Water Chase
  • 9/24/19 to 9/24/19
  • My first high school tournament (Varsity) for some reason was very nervous and struggled to a 106. Did drive the par 4 (239 yd) #4, then 3 putted for par.
