Personal Statement

I have been offered an academic scholarship to attend Colorado School of Mines, and although they do not have women's golf, I have accepted that offer and will pursue my degree in engineering.  Thanks to all the coaches who reached out.  I wish you all the best in your seasons to come.

Thanks, Maggie

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • LD Bell Invitational
  • 11/19/19 to 11/19/19
  • This is my schools home course and I know it well. This course is on DFW Airport property and the planes flying over head provide their own unique challenge. Nothing like lining up a putt when a 737 is a couple hundred feet over head.
  • Camp/Event
  • Trinity HS Invitational
  • 11/06/19 to 11/06/19
  • I know this course well and shot 83 this summer in an NTPGA event. I am looking to break 80 on this course for the first time. I know I can. Have 3 double bogies in August that cost me that chance.
  • Camp/Event
  • Seguin HS- Cougar Open
  • 10/08/19 to 10/08/19
  • This course hosts our regional tournament in April. I have played this course a few times and look to improve my scoring average here. I shot even worse today than last tournament. Only part of my game working today was chipping and I still stumbled to a 103. Tough course and not enough practice time thanks to tests and homework are not a good combo. To make matters worse my freshman sister beat me with a 96. Next trimester (4 weeks from now) I get my last period golf class back for the rest of the year and I will not be out worked.
  • Camp/Event
  • Sam Houston HS shootout @Water Chase Golf Course
  • 9/24/19 to 9/24/19
  • Water Chase golf course, home to Jim McLean golf school.***I did not shoot well. Fought my driver all day and the par 5's were not kind. Tough course good news was I had 6 pars. Shot 94.
  • Camp/Event
  • NTPGA - M468 Timarron CC
  • 7/29/19 to 7/29/19
  • DID NOT ATTEND - I had an issue come up and did not play in this event. Timarron is home to the Southlake HS golf team they make the state finals almost every year. I am looking forward to playing their home course.
  • Camp/Event
  • NTPGA - M458 Texas Star golf course
  • 7/22/19 to 7/22/19
  • Much better day today. I hit my drives good enough and had 4 birdie putts although I did not convert any I finished with 83 from the Red tees. I had 3 doubles on the back 9. I took second place honors. The winner Piper Frisbie shot 76 she will be attending Texas Wesleyan in the Fall.
  • Camp/Event
  • FWJGA Ft Worth City Championship
  • 7/15/19 to 7/18/19
  • This is the biggest tournament in the area. Girls from Tarrant and surrounding counties enter. Several D1 commits play in this prestigious event. The first 2 days are guaranteed the last 2 days are after cuts. Angela Stanford won this tournament all 4 years of HS. She was there to wish us well last year. My goal this year is to make the championship bracket who had their final round at Colonial Country Club last year. UPDATE - I did not shoot as well as I had planned. Day 1 was tough from the White tees (5700 yds) shot a 92. Day 2 was even tougher at Squaw Creek (5700 yds) shot 99. I barely made day 3 and shot 89. Not happy at all with my performance, not enough work on my game as I was out of town for most of the 3 weeks leading up to the tournament.
  • Camp/Event
  • Withdrawn - NTPGA - M429 - Rockwood Park GC
  • 6/25/19 to 6/25/19
  • I will not be playing in this as I will be in San Francisco with the First Tee playing Harding Park as part of the John Deere event being held there.
  • Camp/Event
  • NTPGA - M423 - Tangle Ridge GC
  • 6/20/19 to 6/20/19
  • This is a challenging course on Joe Pool Lake, have to deal with the wind on most shots. UPDATE - I had a decent day today. Hit all fairways except 2 with driver. I shot an 84. Funny thing is I may have had an 82 but I listened to a spectator who said my ball went in the hazard (mom haha) and I took a drop, as I walked by the hazard there was my ball still playable. Live and learn. Short game was decent as I only hit 2 greens in regulation. If I get to regionals this year I will be ready as this is the host course.
  • Camp/Event
  • NTPGA - Starburst Jr Golf Classic
  • 6/17/19 to 6/18/19
  • This tournament draws golfers from around the country. http://starburstgolf.com/ UPDATE - Wow what a neat event. I did not shoot as well as I would like 87 at Ridgewood CC and 88 at Cottonwood Creek golf course. It was hot and humid. Both of these courses were played at over 5700 yards for my age group.
  • Camp/Event
  • The First Tee of Ft Worth club championship.
  • 6/01/19 to 6/02/19
  • This is always a fun and challenging 36 hole event. Our chapter has female golfers that have committed to D1 universities. UPDATE - I had a tough first day, the heat got to me a bit and stumbled to a 92 (last four holes was +7) at Pecan Valley. Bounced back day two at Rockwood, as the temp was a little better as was my game. Shot 85 but I had 3 triples. Have to eliminate those to never shoot above 80 again!
  • Camp/Event
  • District 3-6A Tournament
  • 4/01/19 to 4/02/19
  • Unbelievable 2 days. I have had this tournament circled on my calendar since I found out. After the 79 I shot in the preview it has been on my mind about what I could do better and to have 2 days at it to see if I can handle the marathon. Everything seemed to go my way on day one as I had a couple of tough holes but managed 3 Birdies and 9 pars on my way to a day one score of 75 (38-37). I was in 3rd place overall and 1st place for the medalists (Top 2 go to regionals). Funny to say but unfortunately, I could not keep up my pace as I moved into the # 1 grouping and I was paired with the #2 player in the state. I was cruising to a 77 until I had doubles on 16 (#1 handicap on the course) and 17. I had a 2 put par on 18 (par 5) to finish with an 81 (39-42). Although I am happy with my scores it has made me now set my sites on breaking par this summer. I also earned 1st team all district by finishing in the top 5.
  • Camp/Event
  • Bridlewood Spring Classic
  • 3/25/19 to 3/25/19
  • Rough score on a tough course. Also I think I was still reeling a bit from my 79, 2 days before in the district preview. I stumbled out to a 95. I learned a lot about my game and exposed a couple of areas for improvement but I know I will be better in districts.
  • Camp/Event
  • District 3-6A Preview
  • 3/22/19 to 3/22/19
  • I had a great day today! Not only was the weather perfect but my game was amazing, I shot my new personal best, a 79. I tied for 4th place but lost in a score card playoff and ended up taking home 5th place. It could have been better, I had 5 three putts and my chipping could have been better. My driver was not consistent today but I was able to still work with it and had multiple birdie chances. I just need to clean up my accuracy but overall I am really proud of myself for such a great score.
  • Camp/Event
  • Birdville Invitational
  • 3/05/19 to 3/05/19
  • Had a great day today. After a shaky start I put together my best round to date. I hit 11 fairways and 11 greens. All aspects of my game came together. I converted 1 birdie and 8 pars. I shot an 81 today. As awesome as that was I had 1 birdie sit on the rim and not fall and 2 others that burned the edge for tap in pars. Very encouraged that my hard work is paying off. Today the temp at tee time (noon) was 35 degrees with 20 mph wind gusts. I was able to fight those all day as they always seemed to be going from side to side and only once felt to be at my back. If I am going to shoot this in those conditions then how well can I play under better conditions. The only bad items today were 3 doubles although one was when I was going for a par 5 in 2 and was short (splash). If I had to do it over again I wouldn't change a thing, it was in my range I just missed the shot. Also according to my teammates dad I missed a hole in 1 by 6 inches (ball was pin high and 6 inches right). Missed the 6' birdie burned the edge and tapped in for par (3rd hole of the day). I took 3rd place in the individual, missed 2nd by 1 shot. Rockwood today was played from the Red tees 5157 yds.
  • Camp/Event
  • Region 1 Preview
  • 2/15/19 to 2/16/19
  • Day one was a good day, I shot a 92, but it definitely could have been better. I hit 12/14 fairways and 7 greens in regulation yet could not execute on my putting or chipping which cost me strokes. I was on my way to shooting 86 unfortunately I had two triples in my last four holes. I had multiple birdie opportunities but could not convert. Due to 30 degree temps on day two, my coach pulled us out of the tournament.
  • Camp/Event
  • Flower Mound HS Invitational at Tour 18
  • 11/27/18 to 11/27/18
  • This tournament is schedule to take place weather permitting Nov 27. I have played this course before and am eager to get a second chance at playing this under tournament conditions.
  • Camp/Event
  • Tour 18- Flower Mound invitational
  • 11/27/18 to 11/27/18
  • Tough day for golf. Greens were lightning fast. I had a very bad day with my putter. I had more 3 puts today then in my Fall season combined (3 tournaments). I hit 10 of 14 fairways and 7 of 18 greens in regulation. That is proof that I was in great position for a record round. The putting was so tough that on 1 par 3 (#5) there was a 3 putt max. I had a ton of birdie putts and 3 were within 6 feet that ended up as bogies due to the speed of the greens combined with the slope. I am encouraged by my accuracy off the tee and know that on almost any other course I would have had a great score. Final score today 100.

  • Update: Trinity HS hosting tournament at Texas Star GC, 8 am shotgun start
  • 11/07/18 to 11/07/18
  • We have lobbied our coach to pull out of this tournament as it is the day before final exams. He has removed us from this and entered us in one at Tour 18 in Flower Mound. I will add that tournament shortly. I have played this course a lot over the years.

  • Update: Lamar HS hosting tournament at Rolling Hills CC 8 am shotgun start
  • 10/22/18 to 10/22/18
  • Played this course several times during the City of Ft Worth girls championship. I played it this Summer and shot 90, I now have a new driver and plan to shoot much better. Today I shot an 85 and am proud! I had really consistent drives and hit almost every fairway. On my last hole of the day I did make a 5 on a par 3 which was upsetting. For the most part all my game looks good but I know my chipping could be better.

  • Updated: Eaton HS hosting at The Resort on Possum Kingdom lake 8 am shotgun start
  • 10/11/18 to 10/11/18
  • 1st time playing this course. Will play it before the tournament to prepare. I shot a 94. Frustrated as I feel I could have shot an 86 or better. Had issues with my chipping and triple bogied the first hole. I did par 4 of my last 8 holes.

  • Sam Houston HS hosting tournament at Waterchase golf course - Ft Worth, TX 8 am shotgun start.
  • 9/25/18 to 9/25/18

  • NTPGA junior Tour - Metro Medalist: M466
  • 7/26/18 to 7/26/18
  • This was my first time playing this course. I only used my driver 3 times today as this course was a little shorter then I am used to and most fairways are tight. I had 1 hole I would love another chance to play. It cost me an 87, instead of the 9 I took on a par 5. My scorecard should be accessible via the url here- https://ntpgajr.bluegolf.com/bluegolf/ntpgajr18/event/ntpgajr18249/contest/7/contestant/182/scorecard.htm If that doesn't work you can look up the event on the NTPGA Jr Tours site for the Metro medalist M 466 tournament leaderboard.

  • After three days of golf and that horrible 98, I decided not to take a day off but to play in this tournament. Going into the round I just wanted to have fun and did not expcet much. I can happily report that I shot an 86! I did not shoot a score higher than a 6 on any hole. Yes there were areas I saw I could improve, like my chipping, but I am pretty proud I was able to shoot that after three very long days in the Texas heat. the results can be seen at this link http://cdn.cybergolf.com/images/1856/fwjgt-7-12-18.pdf

  • City of Fort Worth Junior Championship-Update
  • 7/09/18 to 7/11/18
  • On Monday I played at Rolling Hills and shot a 90, which could have easily been a high 80. Two holes got me that day which cost me a better score, I tripled a par three and went in the water on a par five that messed me up. On Tuesday I was at Squaw Creek and shot a 92, this could also have been in the 80's. The only hole that really killed my score was the last hole I managed to make a 9 on because I took a risk that did not pay off. I think I did ok as this was my first time playing this course. For the third and final day of the tournament, I played at Shady Valley and shot my worst score, a 98. That day my short game was horrible, I had many three putts and my chipping was no help. Overall I feel very good about my performance for the first two days and I learned what things I need to practice more. I always look forward to this tournament and hopefully next year my hard work pays off and I am in the championship bracket playing at Colonial CC on the 4th day.

  • I shot ok today. Disappointed as I had too many double bogie +. Still shot a 92 on a course I had never played before. Day got off to a bad start as due to construction we showed up late, I got to my tee with 2 mins to spare, no chance to warm up or roll putts. Should have shot 86 or better, greens were tough as they had what my dad called pot holes. Several putts were headed to the cup and would hit one and jump in the air and stop. • Ft Worth Mid Season championship round 2
  • 6/18/18 to 6/19/18
  • I am happy to say today that I shot my personal and tournament best, an 83, on the river course. I was consistent all day with every club in my bag and was able to sink two putts from the fringe for birdies. I limited my card to one bad hole, number 18, a very tough par 5 with an 80ft +/- ravine to carry into a bunker protected green that I took an 8 on to make my only triple bogie of the day. I had a really great day with multiple pars and multiple par putts I missed to tap in for bogey. I now have my sights set on breaking 80. • Fort Worth Mid Season championship round 1

  • I shot a 90 today. Was disappointed as I felt I left at least 4-5 strokes out there due to some shots I was unable to execute, as well as a few errant tee shots with my driver which left me scrambling to recover. I left 2 birdies 3 inches short, those really hurt. I look forward to the challenge tomorrow on the river course, the tougher of the two courses.
