Winter 2012/13Personal Statement
Hey, my name is Sidney. I am a senior at Sonora High School. I have been playing golf for about six years, and I have been very lucky to have Jimmy Tidwell as my swing coach since I started playing golf. Tournament play began shortly after lessons as I played on the Bentwood Country Club Junior Team for the next three years, played in the West Texas Junior Champions Tour and played on the Sonora Middle School golf team my 7th and 8th grade years. My passion for the game has continued into high school and is at the forefront of everything I do.
The West Texas Champions Tour, the TJGT and various other tournaments and organizations continue to provide challenging courses and competition that pushes me to improve my game. While I have always had a strong long game, I have worked dilligently to improve my short game, as well as strengthening my mental game as I contiune to prepare myself for play at the next level. I have a strong desire to play college golf and am committed to achieving this goal. Athletically and academically, I have much to offer and hope to find a strong, well rounded program that is the perfect fit for me.
Results from last two tournaments - Texas State Junior Championship - Horseshoe Bay Resort (Slick Rock), Horseshoe Bay, TX - July 29-31 - Shot 78/81 - Played just under 5900 yards with a field of 72 players. The field was cut to 27 after two days, and I missed the cut by two strokes. West Texas Junior Champions Tour Finals - Schreiner Golf Course, Kerrville, TX. I shot 73/75 on this par 70 course to finish three shots behind first and one stroke out of second.

- Jimmy has been my swing coach since I started playing golf 6 years ago. He encouraged me to play on the Bentwood Junior team shortly after I started taking lessons at age 11. Jimmy's expertise and passion for golf and teaching have had a huge influence on my game. Nine months of the year, I take a lesson every 1-2 weeks as I continue to refine my skills and sharpen my game.
