My name is Kaitlyn Alvarez and I am currently a senior at North High School, a D1 school in Eau Claire, WI, and I will graduate in 2014. I have been on the varsity girls' golf team since my freshman year, and have also received 3 varsity letters in soccer. During my freshman and sophomore years, I also played basketball, but I have decided to only participate in soccer, and more importantly, golf. Although sports have been a huge part of my life, academics are very important to me as well. I am very self-motivated, highly competitive, and have high expectations for myself, all of which have helped me in both maintaining my 3.94 GPA and increasing my skills in golf.
Unlike most people who have golfed their whole life, I first took up golf in the summer after 8th grade, four years after my family moved to our current house on a golf course. I started out playing in local Chippewa Valley Golf Association Tournaments, and then as of last year, started competing in the Wisconsin PGA-junior state tournaments. In addition, to having success in the WPGA-junior tournaments the summer of 2012, I placed 2nd at Sectionals, and qualified for the State Girls' Golf Tournament in October 2012. I have quickly found a love for golf, and you could possibly say that I'm obsessed! I would like to play golf in college because I don't want to think that this upcoming season could be my last. I am out-going, friendly, and easy to coach. Because of my hopes to study Marine Biology, I'm quite open to moving away from the Midwest for college (hopefully some place along the coast). I am also aware that balancing college sports with academics can be very demanding, but I am ready and willing to take on the challenge.
