I thought that my coach did a great job explaining myself. Dear Coach's, I am writing to tell you about a special player that I have had the privilege of knowing for the past several years as her High School Golf Coach as well as teacher. Her name is Ashli Stolen and her path to success is one that I use as a model for other kids to follow. She has displayed numerous attributes that suggest she will be a tremendous addition to any collegiate golf program. Ashli displays a work ethic that is rarely seen in high school golfers. She is committed to improvement and is willing to take the steps necessary to reach her scoring goals. Her game has improved dramatically from her time as a freshman to her current level. She has cut almost twenty strokes off her scoring average in the past two years and I expect that trend to continue. Whether it is on the driving range, practice green, shortgame area or seeking instruction, Ashli is devoted to the sport of golf. As a result of this work ethic, she has earned several prestigious awards including First Team All-Conference, Honorable Mention All-State, Academic All-State and a variety of other honors. Her swing is refined and it is repeatable. She was at or near the top of all of our ballstriking statistics at Stoughton High School. Ashli can control her golf ball as well as anyone that I have coached and is a model of consistency. Her shortgame is where she really displays her progress. It has caught up to her superb game from tee to green and is now a strength. This work ethic also carries over to the classroom where she was an exceptional student in the Biology class that I teach. She was willing to put in the time and energy to succeed in the class. This is also evident in her other coursework and has enabled her to earn the Academic All-State Award mentioned above. This work ethic will allow her to continue this trajectory of success as a collegiate student athlete. She strives to be the best athlete and student that she can be for herself and her team. Ashli is also a very experienced competitor as only a high school junior. She competes during the summer in our Wisconsin Junior PGA series of tournaments. She also competes in the spring in the newly developed Wisconsin Golf Federation events. In both series she has emerged as a force to be reckoned with. She has been among the top point scorers in the State and her performance here has carried over to her fall high school season. As a result of her frequent play, Ashli has become a favorite of her fellow competitors. Her outgoing personality makes her one of the most well-known players in our area. This will also serve her well as a member of a collegiate golf team. Her experience as a competitor and outgoing personality will allow her to adjust to the next level of competition. Ashli Stolen is a tremendous attribute to the very successful Stoughton Lady Viking Golf Team. Her work ethic and skill have enabled her to become one of the most decorated golfers that we have had here. I predict this level of success to continue as Ashli gets ready to embark on her next phase of her career as a collegiate student-athlete. Sincerely, David D. Taebel Stoughton Golf
