Personal Statement
I like to consider myself a well-rounded hockey player- not only have I been playing hockey for 12 years, but I've also been officiating USA hockey for three years, instructing beginner hockey players for longer than that, and last season I finally got to help coach a girls 8U team. One of my favorite moments was when the 8U girls came to watch me play with my 19U team at a tournament, and they all cheered me on at the top of their lungs. I love being able to teach those kids not only hockey, but passion and leadership as well.
I take leadership seriously, and have been captain of two of my past boys teams (once appointed by my head coach, and once elected by my teammates). The highest level of boys hockey that I have played at is the AA division. For girls hockey, I have played at both the AA and AAA level. Also within girls hockey, I have participated in the California State Select Camp and advanced to the USA Hockey Multi-District Camp. Athletically off of the ice, I enjoy running, strength training, and ultimate frisbee, and have earned a 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo. I also hold my high school’s girls push-up record with 60 push-ups.
I’m not only passionate about hockey, but about my academics as well. I strive to become a veterinarian, and work very hard in school with this goal in mind. I have been unable to take the SAT yet due to the COVID-19 situation, but I have scored a 1270 on my PSAT. I am part of the IB program at my school, taking high-level honours classes.
All in all, I strive hard to achieve my goals, and always stay true to my values.
