Personal Statement
My name is Rebecca Brown, I am a 17 year old Senior with a passion for hockey, learning, and family. I live in Steamboat Springs, a small resort town about 3 hours from Denver, Colorado. I began playing hockey at age 4 and immediately knew that I loved the sport and everything about it. This love grew and by the time that I was in fifth grade, I knew I wanted to play college hockey. Living in a small town it is difficult to play at the highest level. I began playing on teams that were a make up of players from mountain towns that met once a month for practices and then traveled out of state to different tournaments. After doing that for a year, I realized that it wasn't going to be enough time playing at a higher level. So I began looking at different teams. I found the Colorado Springs Tigers U 19 Prep Elite Team coached by Rich Furia. This team was the perfect fit for me and I traveled down there every weekend for games, practices, and out of state almost twice a month for tournaments. Last year I switched teams to play at an even higher level with the Colorado Select U 19 AAA team in Littleton, Colorado. We played in the Junior Women's Hockey League and traveled to out of state tournaments and showcases. It was an exciting year, but I have moved home to finish my senior year and am excited to pursue my hockey with the Steamboat Springs High School boys varsity hockey team. We are preparing for playoffs, and are ranked 6th out of 30 teams going into the first round. I want to play hockey at the college level and I am willing to do anything that it takes to reach that goal. I have been taught that hard work and dedication are the foundation for success and my goal is to be working harder then anyone out there. I am in the weight room and on ice everyday working hard to reach my goals. My goals are simple: To succeed in school and have a successful hockey career and to live life to the fullest! The video I have is from 2 years ago with the Colorado tigers, I also have a link to my video from this season with the Sailors. I am number 20 in red, black and white.
