My name is Sophia Ojala, I am an ice hockey goalie. I love the sport and I have always, ever since I was little. I started playing hockey when I was 4, I started playing goalie as my main position at 7 and have loved every moment since. I have always dreamed of playing in college, hockey is a huge part of my life. When I'm on the ice it's the best part of my day. I think I would be a valid candidate because I think if you work hard enough and put in your all to a sport that has given you everything you deserve the success that will find you. Off the ice, I devote my time to helping others. For example, last year before covid I would go on days that I had time available to elementary school and help young students with homework. I enjoyed helping the students because when they would get the homework correct on days when I was not there, they would share how excited they were that they could do it themselves. I enjoy it when others have success and I could help form them into being successful, which is why I also give youth goalie lessons. I think it's amazing to help the next generation of players, I remember being the little kid having a high school player help me and I knew one day I wanted to do the same. Overall I would love to play on a college team and help inspire younger girls to play.
