Skylar Penfold '26 Recruiting Profile

My name is Skylar Penfold, and I am going into my 2nd year in the U18 division as a defensemen. Ever since I was a little girl it's always been my dream to play for a college or university team, while furthering my education. I am a passionate and dedicated hockey player who takes pride in my position and who is looking for a college or university that can offer me a chance to be a part of a competitive hockey team while receiving an excellent education. I have been playing hockey since I was nine years old, and I have always loved the sport. I am deeply passionate about the sport, both on and off the ice. My experience includes playing at various levels, from local leagues to competitive travel teams, where I have honed my skills and developed a strong understanding of the game's strategies and dynamics. I enjoy the challenge, the teamwork, and the thrill of the game. I believe that teamwork, dedication, and a positive attitude are crucial for success in hockey.

As a player, I strive to lead by example, consistently giving my best effort during practices and games. I am committed to improving my skills and helping my teammates do the same. I have always loved the sport, even when things didn't go my way, or I didn't accomplish what I knew I was capable of. It's the mistakes and the moments where I fail that drive me to become a better player. I believe that teamwork, dedication, and a positive attitude are crucial for success in hockey. Throughout this past season, I improved so much from the beginning of the season to the end and the biggest takeaway of it all was learning how to be confident, which I will continue to grow and bring my newfound confidence to my new team to help both myself and my teammates. I have a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn from my coaches and teammates. I have also developed a good sense of leadership, communication, and responsibility on and off the ice.

Off the ice, I am dedicated to maintaining a high level of fitness and staying up-to-date with the latest training techniques and game strategies. I am also actively involved in community events and volunteer activities, understanding the importance of giving back and fostering a love for hockey in younger players through referring and mentoring. With a strong work ethic and a passion for the game, I am ready to take on new challenges and continue growing as a hockey player!
