Personal Statement

Playing hockey has been an instrumental part of my life in helping me develop into the well-rounded, team player that I have become. Watching my older brother skate for his hockey team was a very influential factor in my life. I started playing hockey at the young age of three and then joined my first official team at age four. Given my experience on the ice, my skills have strongly improved over the years but I have also learned a great deal about team work in addition to just actual hockey skills. Having been picked to be team captain demonstrates how my peers have recognized the strong leadership qualities I have. Being part of a hockey team for most of my life, I have developed strong communication and listening skills. I have learned to be a team player who works toward a common goal collectively with my teammates. My self-confidence, self-esteem and also good sportsmanship can all be accredited to my years of playing hockey.

As I look for a college to attend, my sights are not only on getting a good education but capitalizing on the extensive hockey career I have had thus far. Fitting in well to a hockey program is extremely important to me as hockey has had tremendous impact on the person I have become. I believe that good work ethic and strong leadership are qualities that every great player must have.  In addition, being able to develop friendships and demonstrate the ability to cooperate with teammates is essential to a great player.  I truly believe I have these qualities and would definitely be an asset to any team I am given the opportunity to play on.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
