I grew up I’m a small town where everyone knows everyone. My school consists of about 200 students total and girls hockey isn’t very popular where I live. I actually danced until I was 7 years old before converting to hockey. I’ve played for 9 years now and I’ve only played girls hockey for the last three years.
It was my Godmother that got my brother, sister, and I all playing hockey. Neither of my parents had ever played, but she was, and still is, completely obsessed with the sport. She first got my brother playing when he was just three years old, and after watching him play my entire life, I wanted to try it out to, and I love it. Not long after me, my sister started playing and it quickly became the family sport.
I got the opportunity to play in Marlboro for the Lady Flames my freshman year of high school and have played there ever since. Playing hockey in college and persuing that goal is a life time dream of mine. Coming from a small town, it is hard to show people what I am able to do, and because of that I drive an hour and a half just to play.
In 2015 my team traveled to Lake Placid, New York, where we became the Gold Cup Champions, playing at the Herb Brooks Arena. Growing up, Miracle, was my favorite movie and to be able to play on the same ice as the 1980 Olympic Team was a feeling I can’t describe.
Being a three sport athlete, comes with having the grades to be able to compete. Throughout my time in high school, I have been awarded first honors all of my semesters. I have also received an award for Academic Excellence In Honors Biology my sophomore year.
I am a captain for the varisty Field Hockey team, and the varsity Softball team. I have started on varsity Field Hockey since I was in 8th grade, and have started on varsity Softball since 9th grade. In the three years I’ve started on the softball team, I have helped my team win two out of three consecutive State Championships and three Western Mass Titles.
