Personal Statement
Being the third of three competitive children has caused me to be competitive and given me exposure to many different sports. I grew up watching my older brother play as a goalie in hockey and my older sister play defense in hockey and midfielder in soccer. I compete in both sports, starting hockey at age six, and soccer at age four, and making varsity in hockey as a freshman and soccer as a sophomore and playing club in both sports. As a goalie I have been taking specialized training since I was eight years old and have now trained with three different goalie coaches.
Team is important to me and I have had the good fortune to play with many great athletes during my athletic career. Playing club, I know many of the players I am competing against in high school and enjoy playing with them and against. This year I had the privilege to be on an excellent high school team, and won the starting goalie spot. We went undefeated and all the way to the division one state championship in Massachusetts, where we lost a tough game and ended up as number two in the state for division one.
I have performed well academically, with two honors and three accelerated courses as a freshman and sophomore, averaging well over a 3.0. Academics are important to me. I want to continue to take challenging courses to challenge myself and to help me to determine what studies I want to pursue in college.
