Personal Statement
My goal For the future is to play hockey at the next level In College. I’ve been an athlete my whole life. After dedicating most of my life to competitive gymnastics, I decided to try hockey at age 11. I immediately fell in love with it. The adrenaline rush I got from it was awesome! I juggled both hockey and gymnastics for a few years where I was training 24 hours a week and balancing my academics. I did this as long as possible until I had to make a choice when I got to the high school level because both were winter seasons.. I chose hockey and have never regretted that decision. I was playing as an 8th grader on one of the best public high school teams in MA . I was asked to play for a prep school later that year . I decided that if I was going to get better I needed to go out and play against the strongest teams. My life changed drastically that year . Not only was I walking away from a sport I trained my whole life at, I was leaving my family and friends. But it has all been a positive change and I’ve learned a lot not only as an athlete but as a person. I realized my years of gymnastics training Wasn’t being thrown away it was setting me up to be a better hockey player. And playing at the prep level has allowed me to play against some amazing teams and players all which has helped me continue to grow and get better. I am very good at time management and I fully understand what it takes to commit to hard work. I’m also very confident under pressure situations. I am a competitor and I always give 110% for my team no matter what is asked of me.
I will always play like I am the biggest strongest player out there, I see the Ice well and make smart decisions. I am a strong skater and very tenacious on the boards. I will continue to work hard on and off the ice to achieve my goal to play at the next level!
