Personal Statement

Working the hardest I can is a thing I live my life by. I work hard every day in everything I do to accomplish not only my hockey goals but my academic and career goals. It has been my dream to take my love and passion for hockey to the highest level I can. I am a very dedicated player that pushes my self and a loyal teammate . These attributes ring true in my everyday life as well. In school I am taking several advanced classes, such as; AP Chemistry, AP Government and AP Statistics, to help me get closer to accomplishing my academic goals. In the future I plan on going to medical school to become a Emergency Room Physician, this being my dream since I was a young girl. "Thank you for your consideration of Claire Johnson’s potential to play collegiate hockey at your school. Claire is a dedicated player but an even better person. She is a self starter who sets goals and works extremely hard to achieve them. Claire goes the extra mile in order to better herself no matter the setting. Claire is an exceptional person who is giving and dedicated. She has volunteered in our youth hockey program to help younger players develop a love and passion for hockey. Claire is involved in other activities at school like Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Spanish Club, and Lacrosse. After school between seasons you will find Claire in the dry land area working on her shot or building her core muscles. She rarely sits idle. Academically Claire continues to excel. As a freshman and sophomore Claire has enrolled in challenging courses even though she holds a busy schedule outside of school. She holds a 3.85 GPA after three semesters of high school. Her upcoming school year will be just as challenging as she’s enrolled in three Advanced Placement courses; US History, Biology, and Language and Communications. Claire’s difficult coursework in high school will provide the challenge she needs for a future in the medical field. Finally, as a player Claire has a great deal of ability and dedication to offer. Claire spends a great deal of her own time working to improve. Claire started playing Varsity Hockey as an 8th grader, which gave her the opportunity to learn from older girls. Her drive to get better is obvious with her summer schedule of Community Athletic Development Program (CADP), the Cougar Summer Camp including on ice and off ice training, and two years of participating in Hockey Night in Boston. As a sophomore Claire has emerged as a leader who consistently does the right thing and puts the team first. I’m looking forward to her continuance in this role for the next two years. She continues to exhibit more and more confidence and her impact on and off the ice will continue to influence her teammates and those younger girls coming up in the program. It is my belief as Claire’s coach that as a collegiate player she will be a strong ambassador for any program. She is multitalented, but more importantly sets goals and works hard to achieve them.
