My name is Ashley Larson and I am a junior at Eagan high school located in Eagan MN. I am a hockey goalie for the Eagan’s Girls Varsity high school team.
A kindergarten play date with a friend at a skating rink introduced me to ice skating. My love for hockey was born and my journey as a Minnesota hockey player began. Skating lessons, youth hockey team practices and goalie training followed. In 8th grade, I went to Eagan’s high school tryouts and I did not make the team. This difficult experience allowed me to re-focus my efforts and fueled my desire to accomplish my goal of being on the high school team next year. During that following summer, I developed a plan that would help me accomplish this goal. My training made me a stronger more skilled goalie, but also helped me develop a stronger confidence in myself and my hockey abilities. As a freshman, I was the Varsity starting goalie for my high school team. This experience has taught me to work hard and never give up no matter what challenges I will face.
My past two years as a varsity goalie has taught me the importance of teamwork, respect, positivity and confidence. The Eagan Wildcats have taught me how to be a committed teammate, who is willing to make sacrifices for the benefit of the team. Being a hockey goalie has taught me how to become a great leader and helped me to discover the power of teamwork and collaboration. I am searching for a college that will be a good fit for me both athletically as well as academically. My teammates describe me as a strong, determined and competitive goalie. I believe that I have the characteristics and competitive skills to compete as a college hockey goalie.
