Personal Statement
Over the years I have been granted the opportunity to take part in several programs with various skill levels. One specific group of players that tremendously helped with my development as a hockey player were the Wadena Peewee B and Bantam A teams.
Making the jump from the girls 12u level to playing with the boys was a big step up for me, but it was a challenge I was willing to face head on. The boys had size, speed, and strength on their side. I had to push myself harder than I have ever pushed myself before. With determination and a lot of hard work, I adapted to their level of play and later become a starter.
The next year, I was selected to play on the Bantam A team. I now faced challenge of checking. I was one of the smaller players on the team, but that didn't hold me back. That year, I learned about the importance of body positioning and how to play the body effectively, despite being smaller than all the boys. When I was on the boys team for those two years, I discovered my strength as an individual on the ice; adapting. This prepared me for my next levels of play, being varsity, elite, and AAA.
I now face all challenges head on and without hesitation. I love learning about everything the game of hockey has to offer. Hockey has taught me the true meaning of determination, tenacity, resilience, and many other lifestyle skills that I can use off the ice as well. I believe that I have not only the talent to compete at a college level, but the mentality, work-ethic, and drive that would make me an ideal player for your team!
